PGP College was established in the year 1994. It is located in the Namakkal, Karur NH-7. The PGP College of Arts and Science was established by our beloved Chairman Dr. Palani G.Periyasamy M.A.,M.A.,Ph.D (USA). The state of the art facilities in the college encourage the students to develop their various skills. The college runs in an eco-friendly environment and produces healthy education to the students. Our College offers 18 courses at the U.G. level and 17 at the P.G level. Research work has also been growing steadily alongside these courses. We start offering M.Phil and Ph.D (part time and full time) courses from the year 2007. The PGP CAS takes care to give in the young individual an integrated personality.

By promoting the College into an institution of excellence, which will serve the rural youth by providing them with easy access to higher education and job opportunities. The college will strive towards integrated personality, growth of rural student in particular and students at large in which special attention is given to their intellectual, moral and cultural development. It will inculcate discipline, higher levels of culture and time values of life among the youth.
To serve the social needs and to uplift the living standards of the rural youths by imparting higher education adhering not only to national but also international standards of education and fostering an enduring sense of discipline and single minded dedication to work.

ELIGIBILITY
UG
The candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Course conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or an equivalent examination shall be eligible to join the first year of the UG degree courses, subject to the stipulation that the candidates satisfy certain specific conditions, if any, prescribed by the University for admission to the respective courses.

PG
The candidates, who have passed an UG degree examination of Periyar University or an equivalent examination, shall be eligible to join the first year of PG Degree courses in this College, subject to the condition that the candidates should satisfy certain other specific conditions prescribed, if any, by the University for admission to the respective courses.

Foreign Students
While admitting foreign students, it is ensured that the candidate holds a valid visa (students’ visa/provisional students’ visa) to study in India and eligibility for admission. The students are requested to obtain clearance from The Registrar, Periyar University with regard to the eligibility of the candidate before confirming their admission.

M.Phil. (Full-Time )
Candidates with Master’s Degree of Periyar University in the concerned or related discipline or any other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of Periyar University.
All candidates should have passed a two-year PG programme after 3-year Bachelor’s degree programme and Higher Secondary Course of 2-year duration after 10-year SSLC (10+2+3+2) for the admission of the programme.
A candidate with 55% (5% relaxation for SC/ST candidates in the minimum eligibility marks) of marks and above in the Master’s degree and working as Full-time Research Fellows/Technical Assistants/Research Assistants in time-bound Research Schemes of one year duration or more in University Departments/Research Departments of Affiliated Colleges/Recognized Research Institutions.

M.Phil. (Part-Time)

Any person employed in any concern/organization/institution/R&D Centers/Laboratories situated within Tamil Nadu or Research Institutions recognized by Periyar University with a minimum of 55% of marks in the Master’s degree. Such candidates shall produce a No Objection Certificate and Service Certificate from the Employer or Head of the Institution (in case of Educational Institutions).

All teachers working in colleges affiliated to Periyar University are eligible. Candidates working as guest lecturers on consolidated pay are also eligible to pursue M.Phil. (Part-time) Programme provided they produce an NOC and Service Certificate from their respective colleges.

Facilities. The College has a state-of-the-art seminar hall for educational and cultural events. It also has an open-air theatre by the lake-side. A fleet of college buses provide transportation to students commuting daily from neighbouring towns.
