Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai College of Engineering, PCE, was established in 1999 (commencement of courses from A.Y. 2000-2001) as a self financed Malayalam Linguistic Minority Institute affiliated to University of Mumbai, approved by AICTE and Recognised by Govt. of Maharashtra. The college is recognized by UGC under section 12(b) and 2(f).

PCE is one of the top Engineering colleges in India awarded A+ grade by NAAC. The University Grants Commission, New Delhi has granted Autonomous Status to PCE from the academic year 2021-22.

Mahatma Education Society, MES celebrated its 50th year in the field of education recently, is a pioneer in establishing and managing institutions in various streams of education (Schools, Colleges of Arts, Science and Commerce, Teacher Education, Architecture, Management, Engineering, and other areas) at almost all levels. Established in 1970 with the great vision ‘Education for All’, MES has a commitment to contribute in the development and progress of the Indian society.

Pillai College of Engineering was started as Pillai Institute of Information Technology, Engineering, Media Studies and Research, and popularly known as PIIT in the year 2000. The name of the institute was changed as Pillai College of Engineering in the year 2016. The brand name of MES and the proactive steps taken by the institute for providing quality education and making industry ready engineers, made PCE as a leader in engineering education under University of Mumbai.

The college has an enrollment of about 2700+ students in its 6 UG, 4 PG and 3 PhD Research Centers. PCE is known for interdisciplinary centers for excellence, infrastructure, value added courses, job oriented training programs, project based learning, maker spaces and the Festival of Joy- ALEGRIA.

Vision

Pillai College of Engineering (PCE) will admit, educate and train a diverse population of students who are academically prepared to benefit from the Institute’s infrastructure and faculty experience, to become responsible professionals or entrepreneurs in a technical arena. It will further attract, develop and retain, dedicated, excellent teachers, scholars and professionals from diverse backgrounds whose work gives them knowledge beyond the classroom and who are committed to making a significant difference in the lives of their students and the community.

To develop professional engineers with respect for the environment and make them responsible citizens in technological development both from an Indian and global perspective. This objective is fulfilled through quality education, practical training and interaction with industries and social organizations.

Admissions and Eligibility

Eligibility and Requirements for B.Tech.

Eligibility and Requirements of F.E.

·        Passed HSC or its equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Agriculture or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies, and obtained at least 45%marks (at least 40%marks, in case of Backward class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) in the above subjects taken together

AND

·        The Candidate should have appeared in all the subjects in MHT-CET 2020 and should obtain non zero score in MHT-CET 2020 or the Candidate should obtain valid score in JEE Main (B.E/B.Tech).

OR

·        Passed Diploma in Engineering and Technology and obtained at least 45% marks (at least 40% marks, in case of Backward class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only)

Eligibility and Requirements of D.S.E.

·        Passed Diploma Course in Engineering and Technology with at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates of backward class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) in appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology from an All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved Institution or its equivalent;

OR

·        Passed B.Sc. Degree from a University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities recognized University with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates of Backward class categories, Economically Weaker Section and Persons with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only) and passed HSC with Mathematics as a subject.
Provided that students belonging to this category shall clear the subjects of Engineering Graphics/ Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics of the first year Engineering Program along with second year subjects.

Eligibility and Requirements for M.Tech.

·        Passed Bachelor Degree in the relevant field of Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy from All India Council for Technical Education or Central or State Government approved institutions or equivalent, with at least 50% marks (at least 45% marks in case of candidates of BackwardClass categories, Economically weaker sectionand Persons with Disability category belonging to Maharashtra State)

·        Passed Bachelor Degree in the relevant course of Engineering and Technology or Pharmacy as specified in the eligibility criteria for admission to a Post Graduate Degree course of the concerned University for which admission is being sought;

·        Obtained Qualified score in Graduates Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology and valid for the current academic year;

OR

·        Obtained non-Qualified marks in Graduates Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology for the current academic year;

OR

·        Obtained Qualified score in Graduates Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) conducted by National Testing Agency and valid for the current academic year;

OR

·        Obtained non-Qualified marks in Graduates Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) conducted by National Testing Agencyfor the current academic year.

Training and Placement Cell

The Training and Placement Cell is an integral part of the PCE Institution. The PCE management is fully invested in providing sound infrastructure and human resources to maintain the Training and Placement Cell and the resulting opportunities the cell provides to students of the College. The Placement Cell’s primary objective is to provide training and placements to college students. Various organized activities take place throughout the academic year both in the college and the local area. Students are led to take the initiative to develop their attitude in the workplace, soft skills and are given the opportunity to develop technical skills alongside analytical capabilities. The Training and Placement Cell aims to expose students to the nature of the corporate world therefore providing insight to their future professional careers.

Scholarships

Government Scholarships / Fee Reimbursements

Students admitted through CAP round are eligible for different government scholarships based on their Caste / Category / Economic status as per rules laid down by different statutory bodies. These students should follow the scholarship guidelines and rules from the websites of the different government schemes.

Management Scholarship / Merit Based Scholarships

Every year, PCE gives scholarships of upto Rs. 10,000 and awards on behalf of the Management to the toppers of each academic year.

Other Scholarships

Every year the MES management and various other charitable organizations give prizes and scholarships to deserving students based on merit or to reduce economic hardship. Students are encouraged to apply to any charitable organizations including MES independently or through the college registrar.
