The P.K.N Arts & Science College, established in the year 1996 was conceived by the P.K.N Vidhyasala Sangam Committee, a philanthropic educational agency in Tirumangalam under the Presidentship of Thiru.R.Vijayarajan Nadar, Thiru.A.Avanamuthu Nadar as Secretary and Thiru.S.Mohandass Nadar as Treasurer.
A College Committee was constituted with Thiru.M.V.M.S.Rajamanikam Nadar as Correspondent, Thiru.K.Kathirvel Nadar M.A., as president and Thiru.K.P.M.N.Dhanraj Nadar as Treasurer. The other members of the committee were Thiru.K.P.M.M.Kasimani Nadar, Thiru. C.Rathnam Nadar, Thiru.R.Vijayarajan Nadar & Thiru. B.Rajendran Nadar. The College started functioning on 16th September 1996 with four cources namely B.B.A., B.Com., B.Sc Mathematics., B.Sc Bio-Chemistry. There were 33 students both boys and girls and 15 faculty members. It was housed in the science block of P.K.N Boys Higher Secondary School.

Sales / Issue of Application Forms for UG Courses:
Cost of UG Application form is fixed at Rs. 200/- and for PG Application form at Rs. 250/-.
Application forms for admission may be issued before 5 days from the date of publication / Internet – website of results of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu (hereafter referred to as the Plus Two Examination). The last date for the issue of Application Forms may be fixed at the discretion of the Principal. But in general, it should not be earlier to the last date fixed for the receipt of completed Application Forms.
Last date for the receipt of completed Applications for UG Courses:
Last date for receipt of filled in applications by the Colleges should be fixed as the tenth day from the date of publication of Plus Two Examination result in website. Applications from other streams / private candidates may be entertained after the due date in the event of their results or issue of mark sheets is on a date later than that of regular Plus Two Candidates. The Principals shall fix the last date for them suitably.
Filled in Application should reach the college within 10 days from the plus two results published in the internet. Colleges should prepare the Rank list for Admission, from the 11th day onwards and it should be pasted on the Notice Board on or before 14th day itself (result published). Counselling should be conducted between 15th and 20th days of the publications of plus two results in Internet (within 5 days only).

BACKWARD CLASS DEPARTMENT
Residential and Non-Residential Scholarship are sanctioned by the Backward Class department to the students belonging to BC, MBC/DNC, if their parent’s annual income does not exceed `2,00,000/-
ADI DRAVIDA WELFARE DEPARTMENT
Adi Dravida Welfare Scholarship is granted under Govt. of India and State Government Schemes. SC / ST students whose parent’s annual income is below `2,50,000/- eligible for the above scholarships.
In addition, hostel students studying in UG Degree classes are also granted a sum of `6,500/- each as Higher Education Special Scholarship and PG Students are granted a sum of `7,000/- whose parent’s annual income is below `1,00,000/-
CHIEF MINISTER´S FARMER PROTECTION SCHEME
This scheme is applicable to the students who are studying in Aided and Self finance Course.
Identity card of Registered Membership under Chief Minister’s Farmer Protection Scheme is essential.
The students who are applying for getting scholarship under this scheme are not eligible for getting any scholarship under Central or State Government Scheme.
Students Aid Fund
Monetary help is given to the students who are not getting any other scholarship from Students Aid Fund on the basis of their merit, annual income of their parents and also in accordance with the rules of the committee.
National Merit Scholarship
This scholarship is granted on merit basis only. Prescribed forms and entitlement cards are sent to the students direct, through the school in which they studied last.
Selected students whose parents annual income exceeds `12,000/- are eligible for National Prize since they are not eligible for scholarships due to income limit.
National Loan Scholarship
National Loan Scholarships are awarded to the students under merit cum poverty. Students who have obtained 75% marks and whose parents annual income does not exceed `12,000/- are eligible
Freedom Fighters Scholarship
Scholarships admissible to the children, grand-children and adopted children of freedom fighters are awareded on the production of certificate from the Tamilnadu Congress Committee containing particulars of imprisonment place and period.
Students who are eligible for above scholarships, will also be sanctioned full fee concession.
Defence Service Personnel Scholarship
Students whose father is working in Military Service is eligible for this scholarship. He should have obtained 50% of makrs in the last annual examination. He is also eligible for (military concession) full fee concession and exemption from payment of all items of special fees.
Physically Handicapped Scholarship
Physically Handicapped students (a) Orthopaedically Handicapped (b) the blind and (c) the deaf under the age group of 16 to 30 whose parents’ income does not exceed Rs.1000/- per month are eligible. They should not have received any other scholarship. For the application forms, the students should apply directly to the “Director of Social Welfare, Government of Tamilnadu, Chennai.”
