It had been founded with a vision to empower rural women and has been managed by Dhandapani Rural Charitable Trust since 1994. The college is located in a beautiful locale, surrounded by hillocks and green fields providing a serene and pleasant atmosphere for learning. The college is dedicated to the everlasting memory of late Thiru. Kalimudhaliar, who had the noble vision of educating the masses. Unfortunately, he was not able to realise his dream during his life- time and the responsibility had passed on to his grandson, late Thiru P.R. Natarajan, founder Correspondent of this college. Inspired by his grandfather’s ideals, he dedicated his life to enlighten the rural women by starting a women’s college on the name of his father Late Thiru.P.K. Ramasamy and this college was born of such a consistent effort to realise the vision of Late Thiru Kalimudhaliar and christened as P.K.R. Arts College for Women.The Management’s tireless efforts have resulted in getting affiliation for more number of new courses every year. With strenuous efforts and progressive results, the college now offers 12 Under Graduate, 8 Post-Graduate, 7 M.Phil. and 6 Ph D., research Programmes. As on date, there are 106 teaching staff members and 2,227 students on the roll. There are 7 Departments and 59 class-rooms in the college. Every Department has adequate number of computers with internet facility. The class-rooms are quite spacious, well ventilated and well furnished

Scholarships
Government of India offers scholarship for backward & most backward class students and Government of Tamil Nadu offers scholarship for Scheduled castes & Scheduled tribes. Under this scheme, many of our college students were benefited every year. Every year more number of students is getting scholarship through our college. Apart from this, the management is also providing medical funds for students who are not good in their financial positions. Meritorious sports students are given free education.For UG Courses :Yearly scholarship will be provided by the management for students who secured more than 500 marks at +2 level ( Except vocational Group students at +2 level ).For PG Courses :Yearly scholarship will be provided by the management for students who secured more than 85% marks in overall at UG level.

Infrastructure
The college campus, clean and green, has multi – storied buildings with spacious, bright, and well-ventilated classrooms. Centralized generator facility enables the smooth functioning of the administrative and lab work.Class Rooms:
59 well furnished class rooms with adequate lighting and ventilation.Management department has smart boards in the M.B.A class rooms.Every department has facility for power point presentation with LCD projector.The College has 3 seminar halls.Laboratories:
The Computer Science department has 4 laboratories for UG and PG students.The Physics department has 4 laboratories (UG Lab, PG Lab, Chemistry Lab and Research Lab).A Chemistry lab is catering to the needs of those who have chosen chemistry as an allied course.Playfields and Sport facilities:
Play fields for outdoor games like kabadi, volleyball and football are available.Facilities to play indoor games like chess, carom, shuttle-cock and badminton are available.An open-air theatre where yoga sessions are conducted.
Cultural Infrastructure:
A closed auditorium with in-built audio/video system.Required infrastructure support for cultural activities.Space for NSS instruction and demonstration sessions.

Transport
The college offers bus facilities to all the day-scholar students. There are 24 buses plying everyday to pick up staff and students from their destinations. The transport facilities are also extended for various association events like industrial visit and for co-curricular related activities.
