 PSG College of Technology was first established as PSG Industrial Institute in the year 1926.   The engineering college was started in the institute campus in 1951 by G. R. Damodaran, who became its first principal. The college was conferred autonomous status by University of Madras in 1978, which was continued by the Bharathiar University and subsequently by Anna University since 2001.
They, Shri PSG Venkataswamy Naidu, Shri PSG Rangaswamy Naidu, Shri PSG Ganga Naidu, Shri PSG Narayanaswamy Naidu, the four sons of Shri PS Govindaswamy Naidu, went about setting up the trust in a unique and inimitable fashion.

  PSG College of Technology, is a Govt. Aided, Autonomous, ISO 9001:2015 certified college,  Affiliated to Anna University.  This is one of the foremost institutions founded by the PSG & Sons' Charities Trust (1926), Peelamedu, Coimbatore.  The College was established in the year 1951 and the Founders wisely decided to locate it in the same campus as the PSG Industrial Institute for effective industry-institute interaction.

  The PSG College of Technology is situated at about 8 km from Coimbatore Railway Station and 5 km from Airport. The campus is spread over 45 acres of land, economically utilized for the College. Hostels. Staff Quarters. Play Fields and Gardens,

  PSG College of Technology, under the guidance of illustrious Managing Trustees Sri G R Govindarajulu, Dr G R Damodaran, Sri G Varadaraj, Sri G R Karthikeyan, Sri V. Rajan. Sri G.Rangaswamy and presently under Sri L Gopalakrishnan, all with foresight and far reaching vision, has been in the forefront of innovation in technical education. The founder Principal Dr GR Damodaran was instrumental in the planned growth of the institution from the humble beginnings in 1951 to the present status of a world-renowned technological institution. Dr G R Damodaran was succeeded by Dr R Subbayyan, Dr K Venkataraman. Dr A Shanmugasundaram, Dr S Subramanyan, Dr P Radhakrishnan, Dr S Vijayarangan and Dr R Rudramoorthy as Principal's. Presently Dr K Prakasan is Principal.

  The College today has a student strength of about 8518 with 15 engineering and technology departments besides the computer applications, management sciences; basic sciences and humanities departments. Among the various Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate programmes offered by the college, as many as 18 programmes were accredited in the year 1997 itself by the National Board of Accreditation of AICTE. The departments are greatly benefited by the expertise of more than 15 visiting  faculty from renowned institutions and industries. Each department conducts annually at least one National / International Conference / Seminar / Workshop for effective dissemination of state-of-art technologies and research findings for the benefit of teaching faculty and Industries. On an average every year, five short term programmes on current topics of interest are conducted for the teaching faculty from other colleges with funding from AICTE / ISTE and other agencies.

  More than 505 research scholars are pursuing research programmes leading to Ph D / MS / M Tech degrees and the college is a recognized QIP centre for Postgraduate and Ph D programmes.

History
  About 50 full-time and part-time programs in science, engineering and management at undergraduate and postgraduate levels by the 11 engineering and technology, computer applications, management sciences, basic sciences and humanities departments. The institute offers three 5-year integrated sandwich engineering courses which combines classroom coaching with industrial training, one of the few in the country to offer such a course.[3] Among the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the college, many are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). Being autonomous, the college frames its own curricula, updates syllabus, introduces new courses and is empowered to administer its own evaluation.
Campus
  PSG College of Technology's campus is located approximately 6 km east of Coimbatore. The college is located about 5 km from the Coimbatore Junction railway station and Coimbatore International Airport. The campus is spread over an area of 45 acres, utilized for the college, hostel, staff quarters, playfields and gardens.[4]
  The hostels of the college are located on the opposite side of the college campus and so after a failed bid to create a concrete skywalk connecting the two, a steel arch skywalk over the busy Avinashi Road was designed and executed by the civil engineering students at PSG College of Technology in 2007.[5]
Sports Facilities
 The Department of Physical Education maintains the sports infrastructure of the college. The outdoor facilities consist of a football field, hockey field, cricket ground aided with cricket practice wickets, two  handball courts, a kho-kho court, four volleyball courts, two badminton courts, two sepak takraw courts, 3 synthetic tennis courts, a throwball court and a non-standard athletic track.

  A stadium is located in the center of the men's hostel that was commissioned and constructed by the faculty and students in 1971. It can currently hold spectators on both sides including a balcony gate and a VIP lounge totaling about 500 spectators.
Library
  Named after the inaugural principal of the college, the Dr. GRD Memorial Library has over 260,000 books, 13,000 CDs/DVDs and 200 printed journals to cater to students, research scholars and faculty members. There is an exclusive digital library with 60 computers connected to highspeed internet.

Clubs
 The Students' Union is the apex body which controls all the aspects of student life including associations, clubs and societies.

Clubs: Youth Red Cross society,Global Leaders' Forum, Tech Music, Drawing and Painting Club, Book Readers' Club, Entrepreneurs Club, Photography Club, Dramatics Club, IIIE association, IEEE association, Radio Hub, Planning Forum etc...

 Apart from these clubs, The college also has a Formula student team - Pegasus Racing, a Baja team and student wings of NCC and NSS.
Hostel
  PSG Tech hostel was established on 27 February 1958. The hostels accommodate about 4300 students in 14 blocks named from A to N of which 5 blocks dedicated to women. There are five student dining halls, an auditorium, a library, a gym, a computer center and a guest house attached to the hostels.
Symposiums
  Since 2005, the college conducts an international techno-management festival called Kriya.[15] Every year in February, PSG also plays host to Renaissance, a two-day inter-collegiate cultural festival. Intrams is the intra-college cultural festival which is conducted in September.

PSG College of Technology Admission Process

  TNEA Counselling 2020 is a single-window process for admission to B. Tech programmes offered in Tamil Nadu engineering colleges, including PSG College of Technology. Candidates must note that TNEA written exam has been scrapped and so seats are allotted in TNEA through the merit list. The merit list for this entrance exam is based on Class 12 score scaled to 200.

 GATE is also accepted for M.E. and M.Tech. The Ph.D. admissions at the college are based on GATE, NET, JRF and PSGCT Entrance scores.

 PSG College of Technology Placements

  PSG College has a placement office that conducts campus recruitment for well-reputed national and multinational organizations. It frequently conducts written tests, pre-placement talks, mock interviews and practice group discussions to enhance students' employability.

SPORTS FACILITIES
   The Department of Physical Education and the play grounds are located very close to the hostel premises. The indoor games hall provides facilities for table tennis, Shuttle, 3 badminton courts, indoor basket ball courts and other indoor games.
   PSG Health Centre provides an arena for the body builders and the students who wish to maintain their general health.  

   A number of latest equipment are available for the students use and the gym Functions from 6.30 a.m. onwards. The department provides many opportunities to the students to bring out their talents and improve their leadership qualities

 Operates for students and is located near the Physical Education Department.

 First Aid boxes are available at various places inside the campus for students need and also PSG Hospitals nearby the campus provides medical facility for the students at
