National College is the first college of the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate board. Today this board has over 22 educational institutions catering to students from all background.

 it was established in Independent India in 1949 under the leadership of Late Principal M. Kundnani and Late Barrister H. G. Advani - who had migrated from Sind, Pakistan to Mumbai after Independence.

The college, however, traces its origin to D. G. National College, which was established in Hyderabad (Sind) in 1922 with the support and guidance of Dr. Annie Besant and Rishi Dayaram Gidumal. After the Partition of India, it got repositioned to Bandra (West), Mumbai.

 The college originally catered to the educational needs of the refugee community, and later the local population joined the college in large numbers.

 A variety of courses are offered by R. D. National College, ranging from engineering, pharmacy and education to arts science and commerce.

WHY COLLEGE :

The college strongly believes that one of the most important aspects of higher education is to create an individual who can contribute to national growth through self-learning. Campus Induced Placement Process and Intercollegiate departmental festivals are some student-intense steps in the direction of self-learning.

The grievances of students are addressed through instruments like the Inward System, Mentor System, Tutor System, etc. A language Lab and English Proficiency courses cater to the needs of first generation learners and students from vernacular medium of school education. The college is a part of large conglomerate of fourteen prime educational institutions in and around Mumbai, as well as, has established networks with neighboring institutions and other institutions of repute. This helps the college in providing further avenues to its students for exposition of theory.

The students are also exposed to the world outside its curriculum by conduction of Industrial /Institutional Visits, Guest Lectures by eminent personalities and by the introduction of skill-based programs. The college has collaborations with some industries and corporate houses.

Workshops are organized on regular basis to abreast our students and faculties with the latest knowledge and to enhance their employability skills. The progressive management, the enthusiastic faculty and students who are the ambassadors of the college strongly believe in the motto of the college, “PLAY THE GAME”, and are working in a direction to take the institution towards accomplishing its mission and vision statements, reflecting the ideology of our founders.

ADMISSION PROCESS:

Admissions to all the UG and PG programs at the R.D. National College are done on the basis of merit as per the University of Mumbai guidelines. While Ph.D. admissions are based on entrance tests like PET/SET/NET/JRF followed by a personal interview conducted by the college.

R.D National College offers 3-year aided courses such as B.Com, BA and B.Sc with an intake capacity of 120, 240 and 360 seats respectively. In addition to it, the college also offers BMM and BMS as self-financed courses. The basic eligibility criterion for admission in BA is 40% marks in 10+2 in any stream from a government recognized institute. Students seeking admission to B.Com must have passed 10+2 pass in Science or commerce streams whereas in case of B.Sc. courses, the applicants must qualify 10+2 in Science stream. Admission to all the UG courses is done on the basis of merit.

• Students applying for B.Sc. courses must have passed Mathematics at 10+2 level.   
• For Lateral Entry B.Sc. Computer Science, the candidate needs to have passed post-HSC-Diploma in Computer Engineering/Computer Science and allied branches.
• Candidates who hold Diploma in Administration Services are eligible to apply for the BMS and B.Com in Banking and Insurance.
• Students with Diploma in any engineering branches with 2/3/4 years duration after 10+2 conducted by the Board of Technical Education, Maharashtra State or equivalent are eligible for BMS.
• For BMM courses, 50% seats are reserved for Arts students and 25% each for Science and Commerce.
• For BMS courses, 45%, 25%, and 5% seats are reserved for Commerce, Science and Arts stream respectively.

R.D National College, Mumbai PG Admission

At the PG level, R.D National College offers M.Sc. and MA of 2 years duration. M.Sc. is offered in 3 disciplines with 10 seats in each stream whereas 60 seats are alloted for M.Com in Accountancy and Management. The basic eligibility criterion to apply for M.Sc and MA is a B.Sc and BA degree in the respective discipline. Admission to all the PG courses is done on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination followed by counselling.
