K.L.E. Society's Raja Lakhamagouda Science Institute, commonly known as RLSI, is one of the oldest and respected science institutions in North Karnataka. The college was established in 1935 by the Karnataka Lingayat Education Society with the objective of promoting science education in the region during the pre-independence period. Initially started as the science wing of Lingaraj Arts College, the institute later developed into an independent science institution and became a major center for higher education in Belagavi.

The institute was named after Raja Lakhamagouda Basavaprabhu Sardesai of Vantamuri, a noted philanthropist who supported the growth of the institution. The degree science program was inaugurated in 1944 by Nobel Laureate C. V. Raman, which remains an important milestone in the college’s history.

The college is located on College Road in Belagavi, Karnataka, and has a spacious campus spread over about 25 acres.
