 About

The Rajah Muthiah Medical College Hospital, is a premier Government College established in the year 1985 in the Annamalai University campus in a temporary building specially constructed for the purpose with 450 beds.  Rajah Muthiah Medical College was named after the Raja of Chettinad - Rajah Sir M. A. Muthiah Chettiar.  On 14 February 2020, during the presentation of the budget allocation for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare as part of the 2020 Union budget of India, it was announced that the government will take over RMMC and turn it into a Government Medical College. This was affected by an order issued on 27 January 2021, and the affiliating university was changed from Annamalai University to Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University.  It was later renamed as Government Medical College and Hospital Cuddalore.  Over the years the College has developed steadily into one of the finest medical colleges in South India and has earned a name for itself in the field of medical education.

Government Medical College Hospital, formerly Rajah Muthiah Medical College Hospital, is located in Chidambaram, Cuddalore district, Tamil Nadu, India.  Now the RMMCH functions in a sprawling new building complex spread over an area of 75.75 acres of land at Natarajapuram road, close to the college and hostels with a built-in area of more than 6,52,000 ft. of space and 1400 beds.  The college is located at Annamalai Nagar, C.Kothangudi, Tamil Nadu.  The nearest railway junction to the college is Chidambaram, which is about 3 km away.  Neyveli Airport and Neyveli bus depot are about 3km from the RMMC.

Rajah Muthiah Medical College is affiliated with The Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R. Medical University, Guindy, Chennai, and is approved by the Medical Council of India. The College is accredited by NAAC.

RMMC offers MBBS, MD, MS and Diploma courses. The admission to the college is based on NEET-UG and NEET-PG.

Rajah Muthiah Medical College (RMMC) in Cuddalore, now known as Government Cuddalore Medical College, admits students through the NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) for both MBBS and postgraduate courses (MD/MS/Diploma).

Admission Process

• Based on NEET-UG rank.

• 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats via MCC (DGHS).

• 85% State Quota seats via Tamil Nadu DME counselling 

Eligiblity

• Must clear NEET-UG, conducted by NTA 

• Completed 10+2 (or equivalent) with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology & English.

• Age: At least 17 years old by December 31 of the admission year .

• Must be an Indian citizen; NRIs/OCI/PIO eligible under NRI quota

MD/MS-3 Years Course
