Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology (RIT) is a high quality Autonomous Engineering College in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India established in the year 2008.  It is a component of Rajalakshmi Institutions, which has been synonymous with supplying excellence in better schooling to college students for a number of years.

RIT is located in Chennai-Bangalore National Highway near Satellite City and opposite to EVP Film City. It is nestled in a Campus area of 44029.80 Sq.m. (around10.88 acres), with a Built up area of 16297.69 Sq.m. (around 4.03 acres)

Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology is approved by AICTE and affiliated with Anna University, Chennai.  RIT is one of the NIRF 2022 ranked youngest institute in the state.[citation needed].  It is one among the few Colleges to receive accreditation for Under Graduate Engineering programmes from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi, soon after attaining the eligibility to apply for accreditation. The College is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with 'A++' Grade. The college has also secured 12(b) status from UGC. Anna University, Chennai has granted Permanent Affiliation for 10 UG courses viz. Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology and 4 PG Courses viz. M.Tech - Biotechnology, M.E. Computer Science and Engineering, M.E. Communication Systems and Master of Business Administration.

Started with 3 Under Graduate programmes in Engineering with an annual intake of 180 students in 1997, the college is currently offering the following Under Graduation courses. B.Tech. Admission Procedure

RIT Chennai offers admission to B.E., B.Tech, and MBA programs in various specializations. It offers B.E. as a flagship program in 6 specializations. For admission to B.E./B. Tech program candidates need to pass 10+2 with a minimum of 50% marks, followed by TNEA counselling process. Admissions are based on merit. RIT Chennai B.E./B. Tech Fees are INR 2 Lakh for the first year.

Placement

The Training and placement cell enhances the employability of the student by conducting specialized training in mathematical ability, aptitude skills, analytical skills, language skills, technical skills in addition to, on line placement mock tests. The training sessions are scheduled during the semester breaks in addition to crash courses during the start of campus placement season.

Rajalakshmi Institute of Technology's library has a rich collection of 18328 volumes of textbooks and reference books in all branches of engineering, science, technology, management and general studies. All the books in the library are bar-coded; bar code system is followed in all transactions of the library. The college has a subscription of 38 printed national journals and 26 magazines including the subscription of IEEE online. The Electronic Library section also has a rich collection of more than 900 CD-ROMs. The library is well equipped with computerized On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). The books are classified according to the Dewey decimal classification system. Open access system is followed in the library.Institute have Cafeteria with modern facilities within the campus and is open for staff, students and visitors. It has seating capacity in excess of 500 serves healthy and hygienic food.

Transport

A full fledged Transport department functions in the college with buses to provide transport facility to students and staff from various places. This service is offered ensuring a hassle-free and safe transportation.

The College runs 29 buses for providing transport facility to students from various places in the city. The number of buses will be increased corresponding to the increase in the intake of students.
