Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, commonly known as RIMS Kadapa, is a government medical college located in Kadapa city, Andhra Pradesh. It is a state-run institute established in the year 2006 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. The institution operates under the administrative control of the Andhra Pradesh Medical Education and Research Department. Placement

RIMS Kadapa is spread over about 210 acres of campus, providing a large infrastructure of academic, hospital, and support facilities.  It has a well‑attached teaching hospital with emergency and trauma services running 24×7, OPD and IPD services, clinical laboratories, diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, radiology), and a central blood bank.  In Dec 2023 several new specialized blocks were inaugurated: a Super‑Specialty Hospital block (452‑bed capacity), a Cancer Care Centre, a Psychiatry/Mental Health Institute of 100 beds, and eye hospital facilities.  The Super‑Specialty block includes modern operation theatres (modular OTs), high‑definition ICUs with many beds, central pharmacy, CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department), and advanced labs.  On the academic side, there are spacious lecture halls, dissection and demonstration rooms, a central library with both print and digital resources, departmental labs, museums, and separate hostels for boys and girls.  Recreational / sports facilities, cafeteria / canteen, and basic amenities (water supply, power backups, sanitation etc.) are also part of the infrastructure

Transport

RIMS Kadapa is located in Puttalampally, approximately 6 km from the Kadapa railway station, making rail access reasonably convenient for students and visitors alike.  For road transport, regular public bus services operate around Kadapa city, allowing students from nearby areas to commute to the campus daily.  Also, in earlier years when the hospital and college facilities were moved to the newer campus, free transport services were introduced between the old RIMS location and the new campus to facilitate better access for patients and students.  Because of its somewhat remote location (outside the main town), many students also rely on private taxis or autos for last‑mile connectivity.
