On the auspicious day of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, 15th August 1938, the people of Ghatkopar and the surrounding suburbs witnessed the birth of Hindi Vidya Prachar Samiti, a brain child of a visionary Late Shri Nandkishore Singh Jairamji. The Samiti was established with the objectives of catering to the educational needs of the Hindi speaking community. It made a humble beginning by starting a primary school, which gradually expanded into a full-fledged secondaryschool.

The Hindi High School with its high academic standards has carved for itself a place not only among leading secondary schools in Mumbai but also educational institutions imparting instructions in Hindi throughout Maharashtra. With its primary objectives achieved the Samiti decided to extend its frontiers and broaden its horizons. As a result, Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College came into existence in 1963, enabling a larger section of the society to take advantage of the facilities provided for higher education.

In 1976 the Junior College section was introduced and in 1981 the Commerce faculty commenced both at the Junior and Degree College level.
From 1999-2000 the College has added a number of self-financing courses like BMS, B.B.I, B.Sc. in C.S., I.T., Biotechnology, M.Sc. in Computer Science and Biotechnology as well as add on courses, which further hone the special skills of the students.

In 2014 saw a change in education system with greater emphasis being given to employability of youth. As an effort to realize the dream of Make in India, Digital India, Clean and Green India, we have started skill based program supported by University Grants commission known as Bachelor in Vocation.
The college has been reaccredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC in 2014 with a CGPA 3.50 and received the Best College Award (2007-2008) of the University of Mumbai. The College has been bestowed with IMC RAMKRISHNA BAJAJ PERFORMANCE EXCELLENCE TROPHY, 2010. The Principal of the college was awarded “Best Teacher” by Government of Maharashtra in 2011. Government of Maharashtra conferred the college with “JAAGAR JAANIVANCHA” (First in Mumbai Suburban- in 2013 and Second in Mumbai Suburban- in 2014) for safety of girls.

Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College, Mumbai offers admission to its various programmes on the basis of merit of the qualifying examination except for M.A in Entertainment, Media and Advertising. M.A in Entertainment, Media and Advertising are offered on the basis of the performance in the interview. Admission to all the courses except PhD

• Admission to all the programmes shall be based on the merit of the qualifying examination except for M.A in Entertainment, Media and Advertising, for this course candidates will be selected through a personal interview. R J College offers admission to PhD on the basis of the marks obtained in the PhD Entrance Test and performance in the interview. 
• Students wanting to pursue the courses offered by R J College have to firstly enrol on the website of Mumbai University.
• Subsequent to that they have to select the programme they wish to pursue from Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College and then generate a pre-enrolment copy for each programme they apply. 
• Once the candidates have enrolment is complete, they have to fill the R J College Pre-Application form for the further RJ College admission process.
• For PGD courses and admission to class 12, candidates have to apple directly on the website of Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College, Mumbai.
• RJ College merit list will be released separately for all the courses and candidates have to meet the cutoff requirement of the course in which he/she wishes to take admission.
• Aspirants meeting the RJ College cutoff requirement will be a part of the further admission procedure and they will make a move to the final stage of the admission process that comprises document verification and fee payment.
• Fee payment and document verification is a mandatory step for confirmation of admissions to Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College, Mumbai.

Doctoral Programme

• Eligible candidates have to apply and appear for a PhD Entrance Test conducted by Mumbai University.
• Candidates qualifying PET have to appear for interview voice and qualify it.
• Candidates qualifying interview voice to have to participate in the university level document verification and fee payment.
• Final admission shall be based on the marks obtained in the PhD Entrance Test, performance in the interview, university-level document verification and fee payment.

Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College (RJC), a NAAC accredited college, came into existence in the year 1963. It is an Arts, Commerce and Science college affiliated to University of Mumbai. It offers degree courses at UG level and PG Diploma courses. The admissions to RJ College are done as per the norms of University of Mumbai.

• Admission to the seats of UG courses is strictly done on the merit of 10+2 marks in qualifying examinations.
• Candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria according to the admission norms of University of Mumbai in the course they are seeking admission into.
• Admission seekers must have applied in online mode on the University official website after the announcement of 10+2 results under the ‘Application Portal’ and register themselves for the courses. The application process includes Pre- Admission Enrollment and Online Application.
• Candidates seeking admissions under management quota were required to apply directly to the college. Candidates applying for PG Diploma need to satisfy eligibility and apply directly.   
• RJ College is a linguistic minority institution, hence reserves 50% seats for Hindi speaking candidates in its degree courses.

RJ College Application Process 2023

Application to all courses in Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College will be submitted through Online Admission Portal of University of Mumbai. To make an application, candidates must first fill ‘Pre-Admission Form’ followed by submission of application form along with ‘Pre-Admission Form’. Applicants must be submitted by following the given steps:

• Visit the official website of University of Mumbai and click on the link for “Pre- Admission Online Registration”.
• Applicants should then proceed to “Apply Online” and register by entering mandatory details in the relevant fields and “Register”.
• A verification code and a link will be sent on the mobile number provided by the applicant.
• Log in with the verification code, fill in given particulars of the online application form and attach a recent passport size colored photograph as per the requirement.
• Submit the application fee.
• The registration fee of INR 150 has to be paid through a DD drawn in favor of “The Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai” payable at Mumbai.
• Submit the print of application form along with necessary documents in the college.

Scholarship :

A scholarship is a financial aid for a student to further their education. Scholarships are awarded based on various criteria. Scholarships are granted by colleges, Trusts, and Governments. This page will give you information about various scholarships which students are entitled to - Income certificate of fewer than 8 lacks, Minimum 50% attendance in the previous semester, Only Maharashtra state and Karnataka state border (only district Belgaum) can apply for this scheme.
