Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru, an Autonomous Institute was established in the year 2007 under the Bhandary Foundation.   It is one of the premier technological institutions inculcating quality and value-based education through innovative teaching-learning process for holistic development of the graduates.

 
The eco-friendly picturesqueSCEM campus, rightly named 'Sahyadri,' (meaning “the Western Ghats”) is surrounded by green hills and river. The campus with a built-up area of 4 lakh sq. feet, is aesthetically constructed in the Courtyard system.  It is situated in Buntwal, Karnataka on the banks of the River Nethravathi, adjacent to Mangaluru - Bengaluru National Highway NH 75, making it one of the nearest Engineering colleges to the city. The Campus is located at a distance of 7 km from the port city of Mangalore, a popular education hub.  The nearest Railway station Kankanady is 4Km away, Central railway station is10Km away, Airport is 20Km, Central Bus Terminal just 10Km and the State capital Bengaluru is 343KM away.  The college is well connected by road, air and train to all the major cities of India. 

 
The institute has a permanent affiliation Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.  It is approved by the AICTE & the Government of Karnataka, Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A’ grade, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for Five Engineering Programs, and the Institution of Engineers (India) (IE(I)). The institute is recognized under Section 2(f) and 12b of University Grants Commission (UGC) act and is recognized as an Innovation Cell by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), India.

 
Sahyadri has been accorded with the recognition of Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

The Institute also houses New Age Incubation Network (NAIN)/k-Tech since 2017 to promote Product Development and Incubation, recognized by MSME as Host Institute (HI) to establish technical Business Incubator (BI) in 2020.

Currently Sahyadri offers UG and PG courses in Engineering and Management.  IT offers BE Degree program in 7 branches of specialization. In PG it offers MTech in Computer Science & Engg, as well as MBA (in Finance, Marketing & HR). The admissions to this college are based on the scores obtained in CET/COMED-K and MAT, PGCET, KMAT or MAT entrance Exams.

 
The In-house Industries and Start-ups are the main stay of the College. The Sahyadri campus is equipped with all modern acoustic facilities, including an aesthetically designed Food court and a well-developed Sports facility with 400 mts. In the admission procedure, allotment of seats and fees structure for all the seats, our College strictly adheres the order of the Government of Karnataka amended from time to time and prevalent at the date of admission . As per the order of the Government of Karnataka, the allotment and distribution of the seats are as follows:

• 45% of the seats are filled by the Government of Karnataka through Common Entrance Test (CET).
• 30% of the seats are filled through entrance test conducted by the Comed-K.
• 25% of the seats are filled by Management.

Scholarship

The college is supporting the students to get the scholarship from different organization. It helps poor students, economically backward and meritorious students.

·                          Various scholarships avenues are available in the college, offered by various Govt. bodies & private organizations. The announcement of these will be made in advance in the notice boards. It is solely responsibility of the students to seek the applications and apply. College will not be responsible for the delay in submission of application.

·                          For students who are applying for scholarship it is mandatory to have an account in Canara Bank.

·                          Scholarship applications will be acceptable only with the submission of current year income certificate

·                          The candidates with “ZERO” fees and concessional fees whose scholarship is provided by the Govt., should apply in time and seek claim for it , failing which fees has to be paid by the candidates.

·                          On receipt of scholarship, (who are admitted under “ZERO” fees and concessional fees) students are directed to submit the copy of the updated bank pass book for succeeding renewal of scholarship and issue a cheque or DD within one week which is due for the college.

·                          A copy of the online scholarship application along with the relevant documents should be compulsorily submitted to the scholarship section. The supporting documents should be signed by the concerned HOD’s and the application should be signed by the Principal for further processing.

·                          The scholarship applications should be submitted to the scholarship section of the college with relevant documents on the dates which are mentioned by the college for further processing and not by the date mentioned by the department.

3. Dhrithi Foundation Scholarship for the year 2019-20

Only those students who have secured more than 75% marks in the final exam (PUC or higher) need to apply. Total annual income of the family from all sources should not exceed Rs. 36000/- (Rs. Thirty Six Thousand Only). This project is limited to students belonging to Dakshina Kannada District.

4. 'ECSS'- Educational Crisis Scholarship Support from HDFC Bank

'Educational Crisis Scholarship Support' (ECSS) programme is envisaged to provide interim support for children facing a personal/economic exigency. Economic hardship or a crisis in the family sometimes has a direct impact on the education of children, often resulting in the child dropping out of school/college/university. ECSS has been conceptualized to provide assistance to these students, to tide over a difficult situation/Personal/Family Crisis without adverse impact on their education. Students pursuing BE under AICTE/UGC/State/Central government rules . Must be facing a personal or family crisis that has occurred during the past three years, due to which they are unable to continue bearing the cost of education and are at risk of dropping out of school/college/university

OVERVIEW OF LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTRE
The Library being the most important part of the education system is the hub of all the activities in the Campus. Much care is taken to provide the best of the best facilities in the library to motivate the students and the faculty members to make use of the facilities. Library consists of central library and departmental libraries which collectively support the educational needs of all the programs, innovative research and collaborative activities. The Library and information centre of the college has kept pace with emerging challenges, perhaps one of the best technical libraries in the state. The state of the art library stretches over 1050 square meters with the capacity to accommodate 400 students at a time and it is enabled with Wi-Fi technology and security systems with Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV). The library uses the automation software Libsys for the library operations with fully barcoded and provided web enabled OPAC services throughout the campus. Its collection of Books 45000+ volumes with 8000+ titles, 90+ printed technical journals and more than 13000+ e-journals/e-books are used by more than 3500 members including students, staff, alumni’s and visitors. The Library is also an active member of VTU Consortium, DELNET and National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Club.

Hostel
The Campus has a separate hostel section for girls and boys located within the premises under the management of Hostel Committee. The committee is headed by the Chief Warden, assisted by the two In-charge wardens, thereby looking after the day to day aspects of the hostel management. Each hostel has a Resident Warden who is responsible for the discipline, maintenance of building, allotment of rooms etc. The hostel staff consists of caretakers other attendants and maintenance staff.

Auditorium
800 seat capacity auditorium is the riverside of the Sahyadri Campus. The Auditorium is for all its graduation ceremonies, gatherings, lectures, seminars and Club activities. Student programme and performances are also held here as this auditorium is well-equipped with excellent acoustics. Cultural activities add colour to the college curriculum and bring out the hidden talent of the students.

Food Court
Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside. The management is happy to provide the Sahyadrians with an aesthetically built spacious food court in the campus, which is now maintained and managed by experienced chefs and managers from reputed star hotels. It provides a variety of hygienically prepared delicious South Indian food, Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian, Chats and fresh fruit juice.

MECH-TECH GARAGE
This lab provides infrastructure to realise the dreams of all engineers in mechanical engineering field irrespective of their specialization. The state-of-art infrastructure provides a conducive atmosphere for the engineers to excel in the automobile field. The lab also encourages the students to participate in national and international events in order to gain vast exposure in the same. Students will gain knowledge in the design, manufacture, management, communication, research, thirst of gaining knowledge and marketing and exploration of small machineries, student version formula car and all terrain vehicles. The garage equipped with TIG welding machine, Drilling machine, Grinding machine, and special equipped tools & fixtures.

Indoor and outdoor Gym
Fitness -Take It Outside Bringing Indoor Fitness Outdoors Recreation. Today's outdoor fitness equipment gives Students comparable fitness benefits, at their own pace, on their own schedule and with no dues requirements

TRANSPORTATION

Sahyadri educational institution runs it’s own transport fleet catering service to students who commute daily. The busses run on all working days at different route.

RULES & REGULATIONS
Students should inform the transport wing/admission counter about the requirement of availing the bus service at the time of admission and during the beginning of every semester to the officer in charge.
The bus fare fixed annually or periodically should be paid in advance which will qualify the student to travel in the said bus.
A bus pass will be issued to the student once the payment is made and students require carrying the said pass without fail while travelling.
The transport department may inspect the passes while on transits.
The seat booking facility is not permitted in the bus. And quarreling for the particular seats or any misconduct shall be dealt seriously.
Students are not permitted to play mischief, loud talking or create disturbance to others
Students are expected to respect fellow students in the bus and more so the girl students.
If the students have changed their pick point they are required to inform the driver in time at least before sufficient time.
If students have changed their place of residents the same should be intimated to the transport in charge for necessary instruction to the new route officials.
Any damage, defacing of any accessory of bus by the user will be dealt seriously and the damage with penalty will be recovered.
The students willing to discontinue the bus service half way will not have any right to claim refund of the amount for the period not being travelled.
