Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru, an Autonomous Institute was established in the year 2007 under the Bhandary Foundation.   It is one of the premier technological institutions inculcating quality and value-based education through innovative teaching-learning process for holistic development of the graduates.

 
The eco-friendly picturesqueSCEM campus, rightly named 'Sahyadri,' (meaning “the Western Ghats”) is surrounded by green hills and river. The campus with a built-up area of 4 lakh sq. feet, is aesthetically constructed in the Courtyard system.  It is situated in Buntwal, Karnataka on the banks of the River Nethravathi, adjacent to Mangaluru - Bengaluru National Highway NH 75, making it one of the nearest Engineering colleges to the city. The Campus is located at a distance of 7 km from the port city of Mangalore, a popular education hub.  The nearest Railway station Kankanady is 4Km away, Central railway station is10Km away, Airport is 20Km, Central Bus Terminal just 10Km and the State capital Bengaluru is 343KM away.  The college is well connected by road, air and train to all the major cities of India. 

 
The institute has a permanent affiliation Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.  It is approved by the AICTE & the Government of Karnataka, Accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A’ grade, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for Five Engineering Programs, and the Institution of Engineers (India) (IE(I)). The institute is recognized under Section 2(f) and 12b of University Grants Commission (UGC) act and is recognized as an Innovation Cell by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), India.

 
Sahyadri has been accorded with the recognition of Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

• The Institute also houses New Age Incubation Network (NAIN)/k-Tech since 2017 to promote Product Development and Incubation, recognized by MSME as Host Institute (HI) to establish technical Business Incubator (BI) in 2020.

Currently Sahyadri offers UG and PG courses in Engineering and Management.  IT offers BE Degree program in 7 branches of specialization.  In PG it offers MTech in Computer Science & Engg, as well as MBA (in Finance, Marketing & HR). The admissions to this college are based on the scores obtained in CET/COMED-K and MAT, PGCET, KMAT or MAT entrance Exams.

 
The In-house Industries and Start-ups are the main stay of the College. The Sahyadri campus is equipped with all modern acoustic facilities, including an aesthetically designed Food court and a well-developed Sports facility with 400 mts. Scholarship

The Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management supports students in accessing various scholarships primarily provided by government and private organizations, not directly by the college. These include the E-Pass Karnataka, Arivu Loan for SC/ST, Merit Cum Means, and other government scholarships such as the Centre Sector Scholarship and Minority Student Welfare Scholarship.

Scholarships are often based on criteria such as merit, caste, and financial need, with some students receiving up to Rs. 32,000 per year. The college facilitates the application process by providing information and necessary documentation. For loans, students can avail them through a bank branch located on campus, with options for educational and laptop loans.

The Library being the most important part of the education system is the hub of all the activities in the Campus. Much care is taken to provide the best of the best facilities in the library to motivate the students and the faculty members to make use of the facilities. Library consists of central library and departmental libraries which collectively support the educational needs of all the programs, innovative research and collaborative activities. The Library and information centre of the college has kept pace with emerging challenges, perhaps one of the best technical libraries in the state.

The state of the art library stretches over 1050 square meters with the capacity to accommodate 400 students at a time and it is enabled with Wi-Fi technology and security systems with Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV). The library uses the automation software Libsys for the library operations with fully barcoded and provided web enabled OPAC services throughout the campus. Its collection of Books 45000+ volumes with 8000+ titles, 90+ printed technical journals and more than 13000+ e-journals/e-books are used by more than 3500 members including students, staff, alumni’s and visitors. The Library is also an active member of VTU Consortium, DELNET and National Digital Library of India (NDLI) Club.

The Campus has a separate hostel section for girls and boys located within the premises under the management of Hostel Committee. The committee is headed by the Chief Warden, assisted by the two In-charge wardens, thereby looking after the day to day aspects of the hostel management. Each hostel has a Resident Warden who is responsible for the discipline, maintenance of building, allotment of rooms etc. The hostel staff consists of caretakers other attendants and maintenance staff.

800 seat capacity auditorium is the riverside of the Sahyadri Campus. The Auditorium is for all its graduation ceremonies, gatherings, lectures, seminars and Club activities. Student programme and performances are also held here as this auditorium is well-equipped with excellent acoustics. Cultural activities add colour to the college curriculum and bring out the hidden talent of the students.

The management is happy to provide the Sahyadrians with an aesthetically built spacious food court in the campus, which is now maintained and managed by experienced chefs and managers from reputed star hotels. It provides a variety of hygienically prepared delicious South Indian food, Vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian, Chats and fresh fruit juice.

This lab provides infrastructure to realise the dreams of all engineers in mechanical engineering field irrespective of their specialization. The state-of-art infrastructure provides a conducive atmosphere for the engineers to excel in the automobile field. The lab also encourages the students to participate in national and international events in order to gain vast exposure in the same. Students will gain knowledge in the design, manufacture, management, communication, research, thirst of gaining knowledge and marketing and exploration of small machineries, student version formula car and all terrain vehicles. The garage equipped with TIG welding machine, Drilling machine, Grinding machine, and special equipped tools & fixtures.

Transport

Sahyadri educational institution runs it’s own transport fleet catering service to students who commute daily. The busses run on all working days at different route.

RULES & REGULATIONS

• Students should inform the transport wing/admission counter about the requirement of availing the bus service at the time of admission and during the beginning of every semester to the officer in charge.
  
• The bus fare fixed annually or periodically should be paid in advance which will qualify the student to travel in the said bus.
  
• A bus pass will be issued to the student once the payment is made and students require carrying the said pass without fail while travelling.
  
• The transport department may inspect the passes while on transits.
  
• The seat booking facility is not permitted in the bus. And quarreling for the particular seats or any misconduct shall be dealt seriously.
  
• Students are not permitted to play mischief, loud talking or create disturbance to others
  
• Students are expected to respect fellow students in the bus and more so the girl students.
  
• If the students have changed their pick point they are required to inform the driver in time at least before sufficient time.
  
• If students have changed their place of residents the same should be intimated to the transport in charge for necessary instruction to the new route officials.
  
• Any damage, defacing of any accessory of bus by the user will be dealt seriously and the damage with penalty will be recovered.
  
• The students willing to discontinue the bus service half way will not have any right to claim refund of the amount for the period not being travelled.
