About SVGC
Swami Vivekananda Group of Colleges is situated in Vallam, Tanjavur District, which is meant for one of the famous place for Tanjai Pragatheswaralayam temple. The group of colleges consisting of various undergraduate and post graduate courses in arts and science, and B.Ed course. The primary aim of the group of colleges is to enhance and enrich the standard of education for downtrodden people in order to improve their standard of living, in terms of economically and socially. In 2001, the management has established “Swami Vivekananda Arts and Science College to offer degree programs in arts and science.



The college is affiliated to Bharathidasan University, Trichy. In 2006, the management has started “Teacher Training Institute” to offer B.Ed courses. Keeping the track of success diary, various undergraduate and post graduate (including MBA program) have been subsequently added a year by year. The college is marching towards excellence in education.

Swamiji's vision covers the entire gamut of human existence, be it at the individual level or at the societal/national level. It is common knowledge that the quality of a nation depends upon the quality of its inhabitants. It is a group of individuals who makes a society and a group of society makes a nation.

Vivekananda said, “We want that education, by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one's on feet.” Education must build up character and manifest our real nature. Personality is the influence, the impression, one creates on the others.

In order to be eligible to apply, the candidates must have passed their Class 10 from a recognized board of education.

Diploma Selection Process
The eligible candidates are given admission based on merit.

PLACEMENT AND TRAINING (PLAT)
The PLAT has been established in the premises itself to motivate and support all the students in order to place them in leading and top notch companies. The PLAT conducts seminars and conferences through inviting leading industrialist and professionals from academic and industries. The PLAT signs MOU with industrial associates who in turns recruit students from the college. A special coaching is being given for the enhancement of the communication and leadership abilities among the students, then and there. The PLAT is being run by very experienced experts with the guidance of the management and the Managing Director. The PLAT assures full-fledged and guaranteed placement assistance for the student community. Some of the students are placed in leading companies such as Aircel, Gokulam Handicraft, Sriram Chit funds, Info Tech Share Market Consultancy, Agua Pure, Sai-Info Tech, etc.,

The Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means (SVMCM) Scholarship is regarded as a very beneficial and successful initiative launched by the Govt. West Bengal. Under this scholarship program, the state government provides financial assistance to students who are unable to afford their education and encourages them to pursue higher education. Every year, the application process for this scholarship begins in July/August month on the SVMCM 4.0 portal. This year many dedicated and deserving students were eagerly waiting for the SVMCM 2023-24 application process.


The online application for the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship for the academic year 2023-24 opened on July 12, 2023, the last date for which is 31st December 2023. Applicants will now be able to complete the registration and renewal application on the portal svmcm.wbhed.gov.in. Once they have submitted their application, they should check the application status from time to time; we have explained below how you can track the application status.

The centre provides scanning and printing facilities. The centre is accessible for both staff and students. ILL provision (Data Circuit) is also Available in the computer Lab.

The colleges are situated in the prime place of Tanjavur. It can be easily accessed by the modes of bus. The college is ideally and conveniently located with calm and spiritual atmosphere on Pillaiyarpatti – Medical College Road, at Vallam, with a distance of 9 kms straight and double road from Thanjavur. The college is just opposite to Periyar Maniammai University, in which, Bank facilities are available. The 9 km distance from college to Thanjavur covers Tamil University, South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur Medical College, on the same side, one by one. The calm, hygienic environment with 100% natural air are boon to students. Lot of Trees are being planted to cool the atmosphere. The college is functioning in double-walled multi storey buildings in a vast land of 12 acres bordering New Bus Stand Road, Trichy Road and Thanjavur Road.
