Under the umbrella Sankara Polytechnic College was established in 1983 and Sankara College of Science and Commerce was established in 1991. Sankara Polytechnic College (SPC) offers three year full time Diploma Engineering Programme for Secondary School Certificate holders and Higher Secondary School passed out students as per AICTE & State Government rules and regulations.

Admissions
Sankara College of Science and Commerce follows admission norms given by Bharathiar University and Govt. of Tamilnadu. The college has merit scholarship schemes based on the marks scored in plus two for UG admission and marks scored in UG for PG admission. Students have to study the admission procedure and eligibility criteria clearly before applying for admissions. The college offers 9 UG programmes, 3 PG programmes, 2 M.Phil programmes, 3 Ph.D programmes affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.

Admission Guidelines
UG Programmes : The candidates who have passed plus two examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or an equivalent examination shall be eligible to join the first year of the UG degree programme, subject to the stipulation that the candidates satisfy certain specific conditions, if any, prescribed by the University and Govt. of TamilNadu for admission to the respective courses.

PG Programmes : The candidates who have passed an UG degree examination of Bharathiar University or an equivalent examination, shall be eligible to join the first year of PG Degree programme at Sankara, subject to the condition that the candidates should satisfy certain other specific conditions prescribed, if any, by the University or Govt. of Tamilnadu for admission to the respective courses.

Research Programmes : The candidates who have passed PG degree are eligible for research programme. The college follows strict norms of Bharathiar University for research admission process as per the intake and availability of guides.

Training and Placement Cell
The Training and Placement Cell plays a vital role in students career planning, skill training and recruitment process. By maintaining contact with reputable organizations and industrial establishments, employment opportunities are given to all undergraduates and postgraduates graduating from the college. The number of students who have been placed as a result of campus interviews is steadily increasing. Many reputable industries come to the institute on invitation to conduct interviews.

Starting in the first year, the Placement Cell organizes career counseling programs for all students. The cell provides skill development programmes in association with Infosys BPM, TCS, Barclays Premier, Mahindra Pride Classroom, Cognizant Outreach etc.

The Training and Placement Cell is collaborated with EIDOS Pvt. Limited, Training and Skill Development company for continuous and extensive placement preparatory programmes right from the first year with various skill modules like Language Enhancement Programme (LEP), Aptitude Programme (AP) and Career Craft Programme (CCP). Apart from this special internship opportunity is provided to the students in association with Internshala. All the students are made compulsory to register in (NCS) National Career Service, a portal from Ministry of Labour and Employment to make them apply for jobs easier.

The placement cell continuously works to identify requirements of companies and co-ordinates with the training cell and the career development cell to train the students. The Team maps the right talent to the right industry. It has been working meticulously to achieve 100% placements year after year. The placement cell focuses more on giving opportunities in core industries to the students.

We make efforts to organize technical seminars, workshops and corporate expectation sessions. Industry personnel are invited periodically to enrich the knowledge of our student community with the latest technological innovations and industry practices. The girl candidate should be admitted to First year of Diploma level course OR Second year of Diploma level course through lateral entry.
Maximum two girls child per family are eligible.
Family income from all sources should not be more than Rs. 8 lakh per annum during the current financial year. A valid income certificate issued by State/ UT Government need to be enclosed.
The gap period between the year of passing the qualifying examination and the session of admission in diploma course should not be more than two years
The selection of candidate will be carried out solely on the basis of merit of qualifying examination to peruse the Technical Diploma course from any of the AICTE approved institutions i.e. in First year or Second year (through lateral entry only) on the basis of percentage of marks obtained in the 10th / equivalent examination.

Library

Sankara Library is established in the year 1991. A well stocked Library has been emerging as a knowledge resource centre catering to the needs of the Faculty, Research Scholars and Students. The college has two libraries which is located in UG block and PG block for utilization. The library is well furnished to provide the ambiance for peaceful learning. Core collections of library books are available to support staff, students and research scholars for effective utilization along with systems for online access.


The library department of SPC functions from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm during all working days. Salient features include digital library, Browsing Internet for educational purposes, OPAC system and Online journals. Bar code systems is maintained during issue and return of books.


Hostel Facilities - Boys
The College has an exclusive hostel facility for boys inside the campus with accommodation capacity of 100 students with 25 rooms. Hygienic kitchen and mess facility available inside the hostel for food service. The candidates seeking the hostel facility has to submit separate hostel form in college administrative office signed by Principal and Administrative office to book accommodation. Hostel admissions are subject to rooms availability.

General Hostel Rules and Regulations
Attendance will be taken every day in the morning and evening
Inmates indulging in ragging, bullying or any violent activities in the hostel premises will strictly be expelled from the hostel and college immediately
Inmates are directed not to litter garbage in inappropriate areas
Inmates consuming alcohol, smoking or using drugs inside the hostel premises will be expelled from the hostel and college immediately
Inmates jumping the hostel compound walls , if found by the warden/security they will be expelled from the hostel
The warden and other authorities of the college has every right to check the rooms and belongings of the inmates periodically
Sticking or nailing of pictures, hand writing on the walls, windows ,doors, spoiling and defacing the painting of the walls are strictly prohibited
Expensive things like money, jewels etc., should not be kept in the rooms
Students who wish to go outside during weekdays will have to get the out pass signed by the warden and hand over in the main gate
Students who go for outing on week days will have to return to hostel at 7.00 PM without fail, students returning late without prior permission will be taken strict action
Inmates are allowed to go home in weekends; however, they need to get prior permission from the warden and report back to the hostel before 9.00 PM on the respective sundays
Visitors are allowed between 9.00 AM to 2.00 PM on weekends only
Bringing outside food to the hostel room is strictly prohibited
Guests are not allowed to stay in the hostel
Students are responsible for the maintenance of the their respective rooms, common areas and rest rooms
Students are asked to keep the rooms and hostel CLEAN and TIDY

Canteen
Affordable high quality food for student / parent / staff community is available through our “Teens Cafeteria” inside our college campus

Sports
We have an excellent 400 m modern track and multipurpose gym. Sports is regularly encouraged in our college, with participation indivision and state level tournaments

Computer lab
Digitalization is important factor for growth of every institute and students, so computer lab in every education institution is must. We have 310 computers, connected to an internet lease line to facilitate high speed internet access with best Wi-Fi facility and we have around 8 Projectors,16 Printers. Students can use the computer labs for education purposes and accessing academic information. The computers are well designed and of the latest technology. Each computer can be used separately by each student

Exclusive A/C TKP Seminar Hall
The college has well equipped seminar hall with capacity of 300 seating and fully air conditioned. Advanced technology, cordless mikes and good echo sound systems are provided. There are separate fixed television sets and LCD projectors for some special presentations and seminars.


Dhanam Hall Auditorium
The College has an exclusive Auditorium called Dhanam Hall in UG block with latest visual and sound systems with 500 seating capacity to organize professional and cultural events. SWAYAM-PRABHA DTH channel is also installed in the hall for students use.

Teens Cafeteria
The College has hygienic teens cafeteria for staff and students refreshment foods and lunch which can accommodate 150 combined with in and out dining and its functioning effectively to satisfy the needs of students and staff with delicious food items at affordable rates.

Gymnasium
The College has Gym hall for staff and students to pay attention to the health and fitness. Gym hall equipped with modern basic gymnastic exercise gadgets. Separate timings are maintained for staff and students usage.

Students Lounge
Students Lounge is a comfortable area open to PG students for gathering, studying and relaxing between classes. The Lounge is equipped with comfortable furniture, Table tennis, Carrom Board, Chess, etc., Students the ambiance of professional learning.

Buzz Room at PG block is an initiative which paves way for mentoring in a friendly and relaxed setting and is well received among students. This concept supports and encourages the students in their academic and personal growth

Conference Board Room
An exclusive conference room provides a corporate setting idea for group discussions and for Interviews during the placement process. It comes equipped with white-Board and projection screen and with 20 seats.

Digital Pay and ATM Facility
The College has installed Unified Digital Payment Interface facility for the students to pay the fees online. An exclusive admission portal is available for online admisisons. ATM facility is available near to the south gate for usage.

Yoga and Meditation improve the health and fitness of the mind, body and spirit and is widely recognized as an excellent antidote to stress. The college provides the platform for good health with a yoga and meditation hall, which students can use.

Extracurricular activities like debate, dance, singing, drawing, skit, instruments are encouraged and students actively participate

Events like Pongal and Onam are celebrated in the campus where students participate in various fun filled programs that promote our culture.

Mookambikai Temple
Sankara Educational Institutions functions with the blessings of Thaai Mookambika Temple inside the campus. Al exclusive priest appointed to maintain the temple all the days. Special poojas will be conducted on special days to spread the positive vibration around the campus.

Transport Facilities
The college has 10 busses transport students in and around the city. The busses routing includes Coimbatore City, Tiruppur, Mettupalayam, Sathyamangalam, Avinashi, Sirumugai, Palladam, Sulur, Thondamuthur, Echanari, Malumichampatti, Puliampatti etc. Students have to get prior approval from administrative office to avail college busses. Separate transport identification card will be issued to all students coming through college bus. Strict Government transportation norms will be followed in running the college busses.

The College has a fleet of new buses as to cater the transportation needs of students and staff. They are servicing from prominent places all over the city to the college. The transportation wing of Sankara always aims for safety of the students and staff and hence experienced set of drivers are employed to do this service.
