Welcome to the official website of Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology (SIST). Named after the pioneer of Space Science & technology in India, this institute was set up to fulfill a dream of the great visionary, Dr.Vikram. A.Sarabhai to mould high quality experts in frontier engineering disciplines. The High-tech engineering college named “SARABHAI INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY” is a self- financing institution established by the Space Engineers Welfare Society (SEWELS) with the approval from the Government of Kerala.

The campus, “SARABHAI INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY” is at VELLANAD, a rustic village in the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram city. A vast stretch of land comprising about 25 acres forms the campus having all the prime infrastructural facilities including hostels, canteen, library, fully-equipped labs, etc. With its scenic beauty and virgin surroundings, this typical location gives the right ambiance for this prestigious institution.

CRITERIA OF ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
CITIZENSHIP
Candidate must be a citizen of India. As per the regulations issued by the AICTE/University/Entrance Commissioner regarding the criteria of eligibility for admission and procedure for selection to the Engineering course.

ACADEMIC
A Pass in Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education of Govt. of Kerala or any examination equivalent thereto with at least fifty percent marks in Mathematics separately and aggregate of fifty percent marks in Physics and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade for 50% of Merit seats , and aggregate of 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/equivalent subjects put together or equivalent grade for 50% Management seats. Candidates belongs to Socially and Educationally backward classes will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination. The scheduled caste and scheduled tribe candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination
LATERAL ENTRY
A pass in Diploma in Engineering awarded by the State Board of Technical Education or Equivalent after undergoing regular course of 3 years in an approved Institution and having a minimum of 60% marks in the final year. Eligible candidates are admitted in third Semester.

AGE LIMIT
Applicant should be completed 17 years of age at the time of Admission.

AGE LIMIT (Lateral Entry)
Maximum age as on the last date of admission of application will be 28 years.

HOW TO APPLY
The Propspectus along with the application form can be obtained from the College office on payment of Rs.300.

Application can be submitted on the forms available with the prospectus.
OR
Application from can be downloaded from the website www.sist.in. Such applications have to be submitted along with a DD of Rs.300/- drawn in favour of The Principal, Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology, payable at Thiruvananthapuram.

The duly filled in application along with self attested copies of necessary documents should be submitted directly or by registered post with A/D to the College Office so as to reach the Office on or before the prescribed date. Applicants shall obtain acknowledgement from the Office for applications submitted directly.

Applications submitted to the Office should be complete in all respects. The candidate should fill in all the items in the application form in his/her own handwriting.

The following self attested copies of certificates/documents shall be submitted along with the application.
10th/12th certiicate in proof of date of birth.
Admit card of the Common Entrance Examination conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examination, Govt. of Kerala.
Mark list of qualifying examination and entrance examination.
Selection for Management Quota will be strictly on merit, rank list published by Commissioner Entrance Examination, Govt. of Kerala. Selected candidates have to appear for an Interview before the final selection without fail.

ADMISSION Selected candidates shall take admission at the scheduled time in the College after paying the tuition fee and other fees failing which the admission will be cancelled.
Liquidated Damages: If a candidate leaves the College after the closure of admission, he/she will be liable for forfeiture of the fees and also will be liable to pay liquidated damages equivalent to tuition fee for the remaining three years.

REDRESSAL OF GRIEVANCE
Any grievance/complaint regarding selection or admission may be brought to the notice of the management within 24 hours of occurrence of the grievance.

PROHIBITION OF RAGGING
Ragging/ any type of misconduct towards any students either in the College campus or outside will be considered as criminal offences and will be seriously dealt with. Perpetrators will not be permitted to continue their studies. Students and parents, at the time of admission, should furnish an affidavit to the effect that the students shall not indulge in ragging which is a crime punishable under the existing rules which are well displayed everywhere in the campus on flex boards for awareness of students.

Admission for NRI Dependents ( 5% of approved seats *)
As per the regulation issued by the government of Kerala/AICTE regarding the % of allotment and eligibility.

1. As per the criteria issued by Government in time to time.

2 . Sponsorship: Parents of NRIs can avail the facility.

3 . Documents to be submitted : Copy of Passport, Visa.

SARABHAI INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY - [SIST] VELLANAD, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM has a placement cell to assist students in securing internships and job placements. This cell provides career counseling, conducts mock interviews, and arranges placement drives.

The cell conducts training sessions, workshops, and mock interviews to prepare students for placement processes. These initiatives help students develop soft skills, communication abilities, and interview techniques, which are as crucial as technical knowledge in securing a job.

Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology National Scholarships
Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

The Scheme is in operational since 2008. The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the meritorious students having family income of less than Rs.4.5 lakh per annum, to meet a part of their day-to-day expenses while pursuing higher studies. Annual target is 82000 scholarships per year (41000 for boys and 41000 for girls) which has been divided amongst the State Education Boards based on the State’s population in the age group of 18-25 years.
Sarabhai Institute of Science and Technology External Scholarships
Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education facilitates the process of scholarships/fellowships offered by the foreign countries under Cultural/Educational Exchange Programmes. Most of the scholarships are for Research, Master’s, and Doctoral studies.

LIBRARY
The SIST library is an establishment that supports teaching, learning and research. The library offers an open access atmosphere with diverse collections of library resources (printed and electronic) to its students, staff & researchers. The total Collection of books (more than 25000) owned by the library is classified by Dewey Decimal Classification, barcoded & and arranged for ease of access, consisting of several collections. Library also has a fair collection of bound journals, CD-ROMs, seminar & project reports, & previous year’s question papers. A computer database of the holdings using LIBMAS software has adequate search capabilities to retrieve the desired information and to produce adequate management reports. The circulation function is completely computerized.
College Library is an Institutional member of DELNET and subscribes to IESTC-InfoTrac Engineering, Science & Technology Collection of E- journals package of Cengage Learning of DELNET consortium. Also the Library subscribes to print journals, both National and International.

DIGITAL LIBRARY
Digital Library includes 63 DVDs of 1036 hours of video lectures on various topics of science and technology organised by National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). The list of programme downloaded from NPTEL (www.nptel.iitm.ac.in) is attached. Click Here To Download The List

HOSTELS
Separate hostel facility is available for boys and girls inside the campus. Presently accommodation is available for 400 students.



BUSES
15 high tech buses are put into service for the benefit of students and staff.The routes cover all the major boarding points inside the city and suburbs of Thiruvananthapuram.


CANTEEN
A full-fledged canteen caters to the requirements of students and staff. Two kiosks are available inside the campus for light refreshments like tea/coffee and snacks.
