About

The college was temporarily (approx. 2 years) located in the Seshasayee Institute of Technology.  Later thanks to the gracious permission from the Honorary Secretary and Correspondent of that Institution, Er. G. Sundaram, shifted it to its current sprawling 40 acre campus on the Chennai – Madurai Expressway at Venkateswara Nagar, Panjappur, Trichy, Tamil Nadu on 3rd January 2000 and was formally inaugurated on 19th October 2000, by “Peraasiriyar K Anbazhagan, the then Minister of Education, Government of Tamil Nadu. 

Saranathan College of Engineering is a self financing co-ed college approved by AICTE and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai.  It is accredited to NBA and IEI – Institute of Engineers, India.  It also has ranking by NIRF.

Saranathan College of Engineering has a current annual intake of 660 students for the 7 branches offered at the undergraduate level and 132 students for the 5 courses offered at the post-graduate level. The college offers BE/BTech, MBA, ME and PhD programs in various streams of Engineering and Management.

Besides a robust teaching pedagogy, Saranathan College of Engineering is also a leader in Research and Innovation.  Focus is given to activities beyond academics at the College, which is evident from its infrastructure, extracurricular activities and national & international collaborations. Placement

The Placement Cell is an interface between the Corporate world and the students of SCE. It enables the students to make better and informed career choices. The Placement Cell invites industries to share their knowledge and experience with students through guest lectures, workshops, presentations and informal get-together. The Placement Cell also organizes the placement process including Summer training and Final placements. The Cell manages and facilitates on-campus recruitment processes including pre-placement presentations by potential employers to highlight the issues, expectations and professional opportunities, unique to the company and industry. Students of SCE have been placed in Domestic, Global and Public Sector Firms.The Training and Placement Cell takes care of the Campus Connect Programme.

Campus Connect is an Infosys Initiative. It is an Industry -Academic collaboration Program aimed at aligning the engineering students' skill to meet the industry needs. Infosys would be sharing with our college its training methodology courseware, student projects and other such learning resources used for their Foundation Program, that has been developed, practised and perfected by them over last several years. The library is located in the MBA Block. It is a building with ground floor and first floor, and is strategically placed for access from all departments. It spreads over a vast area of 802 sqm. The ground floor is the area to store the books and it contains the reading section. The first floor is exclusively allocated for digital section and reference section.The library is a vast repository of knowledge, containing over 59,147 volumes. We have also subscribed to e-journals such as IEEE, ASME, and DELNET providing access to more than 1,048 journals.In addition, each department has a Departmental Library to cater to the needs of the students for textbooks and reference books.

Saranathan College of Engineering is proud to provide a 24 hrs online hi speed internet facility up to 550 Mbps connection to our students thus opening up a completely new world. The Internet has become the primary source for latest and unbounded knowledge for students craving for tips, suggestions and general knowledge.Canteen facilities with a dining room annexe are available at the Campus and quality vegetarian food is served during the college days.Separate STD booth with Xerox facility and a Stationery Store are available for the benefit of students.

Transport

The College has a fleet of buses to facilitate the to and fro transport of students. A fleet of twenty five buses are operated from different parts of the neighbouring areas to bring the students and staff to the college premises in time. In addition, a number of state owned and private town and mofussil buses ply via the college and this place is easily accessible from Tiruchi Bus stand and Railway station. The Government of Tamilnadu has arranged an exclusive bus to ply between Mainguard gate and our college, both in the morning and evening.
