About

Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy, popularly known as SASTRA University, is a Private, Deemed University in the town of Thirumalaisamudram, in Thanjavur district, Tamilnadu  It was started in 1984 in the form of Shanmugha College of Engineering, affiliated to the Bharathidasan University, Trichy. In 2001 it was renamed as Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy. It was the first institution to get the 'Deemed University status' in Tamil Nadu.

SASTRA University is much beholden to its founder Chancellor Late Shri S. Ramachandra Iyer. SASTRA University has been ranked at 26th position in the ‘University’ Category in NIRF Ranking 2023.  The university has been ranked 49th in the Overall Category, 34th in the Engineering Category and 26th among Universities.  SASTRA has been re-accredited in the IV cycle with a 'A++' grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body established by the University Grants Commission.  The QS World University Rankings ranked SASTRA 451-500 in Asia in 2020.  SASTRA was ranked 38th among engineering colleges in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2021, 22nd among universities, 17th among law colleges and 42nd overall.  SASTRA is ranked by global ranking agencies such as Times Higher Education and QS.

SASTRA University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in the field of Engineering, Management, Law, Sciences, Humanities, and Education. Admission Procedure

Sastra University Admission for the M.Tech course is ongoing. The University offers UG, PG and PhD programs in the disciplines of Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Paramedical Science, Management, Law and Fine Arts. Sastra University is a private university established in 1984 and is affiliated with University Grants Commission (UGC). Admission to all the courses is based on merit in the respective qualifying examinations. Admissions are conducted online on the official website of the university.

The Centre for Information Super Highway is a part of the Centre of Relevance and Excellence (CORE) in Advanced Computing & Information Processing established by the Technology, Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC), Department of Science & Technology, Government of India. This facility at the School of Computing has been constantly upgraded to meet the academic and research needs of the entire campus. M/s Tata communications Lab for Cyber Security, Microsoft Technical Services Lab for Cloud, Tata Realty-Data Science Lab, VLSI Lab, Embedded systems Lab, Microprocessor Lab, NAMASTE Lab and recognitions like Nvidia – CUDA Centre of Excellence makes the facility a world class infrastructure paving way for students and faculty members of SASTRA Deemed University to excel in their respective domains. SASTRA requires a completed health evaluation form including immunization records on all full time students. Medical treatment given by the nursing staff and doctor on campus is offered without charge to all students. Students are responsible for all other costs, including doctor visits off campus, prescriptions, laboratory tests, ambulance service, and hospital care.

To sell excellence in sports activities and offer prepared rest and entertainment, an indoor stadium “MARUTI” has been built and ready with billiards tables, badminton courts, a basketball court, desk tennis, and carrom board with indoor lighting fixtures facility.

  1. Buses will ply from 25th June 2012 i.e. from the reopening day.
  2. Students should pay the semester tuition fees first to avail the transport facility.
  3. One full year (two semesters) fare is payable in one installment only.
  4.Kindly register your name online on 13th June 2012 between 9.00 am and 8.00 pm.
  5. Payment has to be remitted through online (IOB) on 15th June 2012.
  6.Latest passport size colour photo has to be submitted on 25th June 2012 in the accounts section.
