Saveetha Engineering College (SEC) is a leading Autonomous Institution established in 2001 by the Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust, a registered charitable society. The Founder-Chairman Dr. N. M. Veeraiyan, is a committed and dedicated Medical Professional. The Saveetha Engineering College buildings are laid out amidst a serene environment in a campus which is spread over 120 acres of scenic beauty, facing the Chembarambakkam Lake on the Chennai- Bangalore National Highway (NH4). It is located at about 8Km from Poonamalee Township at Saveetha Nagar, Thandalam, Sriperumbadur Taluk, Kanchipuram - Chennai Rd, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

SEC, the largest technical institute in India, is Affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and Recognized by UGC, New Delhi. The college has been Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body of the Government of India, and also by the Government of Tamil Nadu. It has awarded ‘A’ Grade with a high score of 3.19 on a scale of 4 by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for 5 Years. The College has been Accredited by NBA. NIRF Ranking by MHRD is in the 200-250 band among All Engineering Colleges in India. SEC is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Government of India. Five Research Centres recognized by Anna University. It has also signed MoU's with Reputed Academic Institutions in India and Abroad.

SEC offers a wide range of UG, PG and Doctoral programs in Engineering which include BE/BTech, ME, MBA, MS/PhD courses. The Eligibility for admission for UG courses is Single Window Counseling conducted by the DOTE through Tamilnadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) or Counselling conducted by the Consortium of Self Financing Professional, Arts and Science Colleges in TN. For MBA program the admission is based on anyone of the entrance (MAT / TANCET / CET/ CAT/ XAT/ GMAT) marks. The eligibility for ME/MTech admissions is based on the (TANCET / CET / GATE) entrance marks conducted by the Anna University & Consortium of Self Financing Professtional, Arts and Science Colleges in Tamilnadu

The Central Library is located on the second floor of the main block, offering a spacious and well-ventilated environment. It is fully computerized and operates using KOHA, an open-source, web-based Library Management System that supports efficient services such as issue, return, and renewal of resources. All library transactions are carried out using Barcode Technology and can be accessed through the Web OPAC online search system.
