It was established on 10th February, 1949 under the Poona University Act. The university houses 46 academic departments. It is popularly known as the 'Oxford of the East'. It has about 307 recognized research institutes and 612 affiliated colleges offering graduate and under-graduate courses.

Admission Process

Post Graduate Admission

Savitribai Phule Pune University offers under graduate and post graduate degrees in more than 52 departments and institutes housed on and off campus. Please refer to the admissions section and contact each department individually for their specific requirements.

Each Department has its own set of eligibility requirements depending on the specialization of the program/course offered. Undergraduate Admission

Savitribai Phule Pune University Undergraduate courses and programs are offered by various affiliated colleges and recognized institutes in the three districts of Pune, Ahmednagar and Nashik. Students can avail information about the courses offered, fees, eligibility criteria, accommodation facilities and other things by contacting the individual Colleges and Institutes. Placements

UNIPUNE (Pune University) Placements

Savitribai Phule Pune University has its own placement cell on campus named Training and Placement Cell. In addition, the university has an Employment Information and Guidance Bureau. The UNIPUNE (SPPU) placement cell assists students in finding work. Several companies have taken part in the UNIPUNE (SPPU) placement drive. The university also provides career counselling, career guidance, and a variety of other services to students. The placement cell also offers entrepreneurial advice. Training programmes for personality development and communication skills are provided to assist and prepare students for the recruitment process. As part of the Savitribai Phule Pune University placement process, companies conduct various tests such as written tests, group discussions, interviews, and more. UNIPUNE (SPPU) NIRF Placement Report 2021 shows that out of 86 eligible students, 32 PG (3 years) students were placed with a median salary of Rs. 5,10,000, while 5 students opted for higher education.

Pune University Scholarship

The scholarship is considered to be financial aid provided by the University, Government, Institution and sometimes from Private sources as well. A scholarship differs from an educational loan as the amount of the scholarship does not have to be repaid.

The meritorious students are the justified owner of such monetary awards. Pune University offers around 23 numbers of scholarships to its students from various sources.

Anuj Bidve scholarship is distributed to the students who have cleared their graduation in B.Tech course and willing to do a Masters degree in this university.

The candidates need to be an Indian citizen and must complete their UG course from Pune University to avail this scholarship. The scholarship offers accommodation fee concession for the Master’s degree applicants.

The university also offers a scholarship for the PhD students. Savitribai Phule Scholarship for the SC and ST category students are also provided by the university as well.

Apart from the above-mentioned scholarships, there are Maths and Physics scholarship, Arthik Durbal Ghatak Scholarship, Krantijyoti Savitrimata Phule Scholarship, Eklavya Sahayya Yojana, Rhodes Scholarships India, E-Scholarship, Japan IMF scholarship programme, Indira Gandhi Scholarship, Jayashree Gune Scholarship, Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship and many more. Pune University Campus Facility

Pune University, also known as Savitribai Phule Pune University, was established back in the year 1949, two years after the independence. The entire campus of the university is spread across 411 acres area. Pune University is a collegiate public state University.

The university has got its name after Savitribai Phule who was a social reformer, poet and an educationalist of Maharashtra. She believed that the empowerment of women in society would come through education. The Pune University has many affiliated colleges and institutions under it which are located in Nashik, Pune and Magar district.

The Jaykar Library is one of the centres of attraction in the Pune University’s campus. It has become a part of the programme of Universal Digital Library during 2002. The Library offers around 2,000 journals to the students with access to the internet in its area.
