Sethu Institute of Technology, the brainchild of its Founder & Chairman, Mr. S. Mohamed Jaleel, is an autonomous Institute established in 1995 by the zealous Sethu Educational Trust.  The Institute has been rendering its noble service to the sustained growth of the educationally, industrially and economically backward rural areas, keeping in mind that the purpose of education is to make an individual a unique personality so as to help the society with the vistas of new ideas. With the motto of “Knowledge, Service and Progress”, the college which started with 180 students in the year 1995 with three UG Programs has recorded a stupendous growth by expanding to the strength of 4800 students with 16 UG Programs and 5 Post Graduate Programs.

Sethu Institute of Technology offers undergraduate (B.E/B.Tech) and postgraduate (M.E/M.Tech) programs in a variety of fields along with doctoral programs.  The courses are offered in many streams such as engineering and architecture, computer application and IT, and science.  Admission to B.Tech programs at Sethu Institute of Technology is based on a qualifying test followed by TNEA counselling.  Admission to M.Tech programs is determined by passing the TANCET exam, which is followed by a counselling process.

The Institute offers scholarships to students who are financially poor or come from low-income families. The college also offers scholarships at the state and national levels. 1.  BACKWARD CLASSES WELFARE DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship is granted to the students belonging to BC/ MBC/ DNC community admitted in Govt. Quota & whose parent’s income does not exceed Rs.1,00,000/- per annum.

2.  FIRST GENERATION GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

This Tuition Fees concession is granted to First Generation Graduate students admitted under Government Quota for Ist Year B.E./ B.Tech & Lateral Entry Direct II year B.E./ B.Tech is granted by State Government.

3. “UZHAVAR PATHUKAPPU THITTAM”

This scholarship is granted to the children of farmers.

4.  PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP

Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti Facilities

The transport section of the college ensures the comfort and convenience of students from college to different destinations, covering almost 60kms in and around Madurai,Virudhunagar,Dindugal. To meet such demands it operates a fleet of 75 buses. For hostler the transport facility is provided upto 100 kms during weekends.

Special buses are available after college hours for the convenience of the staff and students involved in Research and other activities.
