ABOUT :

SNDT Women’s University is the first Women’s university in India as well as in South-East Asia. The University was founded by Maharshi Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve in 1916 for a noble cause of Women’s Education. The first five women graduated in 1921 from this University. The University Headquarters is in Churchgate Campus, Mumbai and the other two campuses of this University are at Juhu, Mumbai and Karve Road, Pune.

In a century old existence, the university has grown into a multidisciplinary institution hosting diverse professional, technical and liberal arts programmes from K12 to PhD. SNDTWU is probably one such university where there is Nursery school as laboratory for Human Development Department, Centres for Women's Studies, Inclusion and Exclusion, Distance Education, andhas affiliated institutions for doctoral programmes. Unlike most university's in the country which have to have state jurisdiction, SNDTWU is unique in terms of jurisdiction. SNDTWU can affiliate colleges/institutions anywhere in India with prior consent from the State Government.

Admission Process

Please check the University website for the dates and the admission procedure. The Admission process for this Academic year may start from the mid June. Thus, applicants are kindly advised to check the University website regularly for updates about the admission process. Following is the general procedure for Admission:
Candidates have to apply online by clicking on the link sndt.ac.in / https://sndt.digitaluniversity.ac
Post submission of the online form and after having chosen Churchgate as the center, please take a print-out of the online form, attach xerox copies of final year B.A. marksheets (semester 5 & 6) and submit them to the Department Office.
Once found eligible, the Department will send a google form link to the registered, eligible candidates via mail to the email addresses provided by the applicant.
This Google form has to be filled with precision. In case of errors, application will not be processed further. Candidates are advised to fill the form as accurately as possible and provide the correct working email addresses.

Admissions for outstation candidates will be based on the rules outlined by the Government of Maharashtra.
Once the merit list is displayed, all selected candidates will be informed the same telephonically as well as via email wherein they will be called offline for document verification alongwith their online application form and original marksheets & certificates.
After document verification, the candidates will proceed to pay the fees with the admin clerk.

We are happy to share that the University Department of Psychology, Mumbai has been consistently providing Placement and Internship opportunities for all 3 specializations:

Industrial Psychology students are placed in Indian Conglomerates / MNCs / Reputed Organizations where they get to work with HR Professionals and Industry experts as well as to learn and contribute to various management projects. Students also acquire knowledge and skills required for management and psychometric assessment required in organizations. They learn to interpret organizational and employee situations, learning styles, leadership styles etc.

Clinical Psychology students intern in well-reputed Government Hospitals wherein they will get exposure to different kinds of Cases and learn from experienced mental health professionals like Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Special Educators, Psychiatric Nurses etc. They will also get to observe the functioning of a clinical set-up as well as different Treatment methodologies like ECT, In-patient & Outpatient facilities, Psychopharmacology etc.

Counselling Psychology students are placed in established Organizations/ Centers / Institutes where the focus is to equip students with Counseling skills, and therapeutic modalities by exposing them to specific cases and mental health conditions in varied populations and settings. They will benefit from discussions and observations of Experienced Counselors and Counseling Psychologists working in the field.

Every year, all students across all 3 specializations have been placed as interns in these set-ups. The Department has also consistently been successful in providing campus placements to a large number of students from all specializations. The Department has always given equal exposure and opportunity to every student and each year the number of placements has been increasing.

Scholarship

Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University offers scholarships to eligible students. The scholarship is offered to students on the basis of their extraordinary academic performance and financially weak background. Girls Hostel
The SNDT Women’s University hostel facilities consist of 150 rooms spread over 4 floors and can accommodate up to 500 students. Having a mess facility within the hostel building ensures a level of comfort for the residents. The University respects all religions, hence, all festivals are celebrated in the hostel.
Library
The library has all the information resources made available for the benefit of students. SNDT Women’s University library fulfils the information needs of students and faculty.
