The Jain Community of Chennai, with a strong sense of social concern and a passion for rendering service has set up the Shree Chandraprabhu Jain College at Minjur in 1997, the Golden Jubilee year of India’s Independence. Our guiding principles are Non-violence (Ahimsa) and Vegetarianism. The College was established by Shree Chandraprabhu Jain Educational Foundation which is affiliated to the University of Madras. The College is being managed by the Jain Minority Institution abiding the meaning of Articles 29 and 30 of the Indian Constitution.

The College started to function from Vijayadasami Day on 11.10.1997. Initially it was started as Men’s college with 4 UG courses. From 2002-03, it has become Co-Educational college admitting women students also to encourage women education. Currently our college offers 11 UG Courses and 2 PG Courses. The Management believes that precise knowledge is the basic requirement for existence of right human being.

To mould the students as disciplined citizens and employable potentials fostering the values and traditions of this country leading to prosperity of not only the individual but also the nation.

Basic Eligibility for Applying

UG Programs : Any candidate who has successfully completed the Tamilnadu Higher Secondary course or CBSE/ICSE or any other equivalent courses.

PG Programs :  A candidate who has successfully completed 10+2+3 years of education.

Candidates from CBSE/ISC Board

Higher Secondary or equivalent examinations conducted by all other state boards

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates seeking admission to the under graduate degree courses should have passed the Higher Secondary Course (Plus Two) Examination conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination which is recognized by the University of Madras. In Addition to this:

·         Applicants to B.Sc. (Computer Science) and B.C.A. (Computer Applications) should have studied Mathematics / Computer Science at the HSC Level.

·         Applicants to B.Sc. (Electronics & Communication Science) should have studied Mathematics and Physics at the HSC level.

·         Applicants to B.B.A (Business Administration), B.Com. (Corporate Secretaryship) with good marks in Accountancy, Commerce, Mathematics will be given preference.

·         Applicants to B.Sc. (Plant Biology & Plant Bio-Technology) should have studied Biology and Chemistry at the HSC level.

·         Applicants to B.Sc. (Chemistry) should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in their HSC or equivalent.

·         Applicants to M.Sc., should have studied B.Sc. (Comp. Science) / B.C.A. or any Degree course with Mathematics or Statistics.

·         Applicants to B.Com / B.Com (Accounting & Finance)/ B.Com (Marketing Management) should have studied Accountancy and Commerce at HSC level.

·         Applicants to B.Com (ISM) should have studied Computer Science and Commerce at HSC level.

·         Students with Good Behavior & Conduct Certificate alone will be admitted irrespective of the fact, the total marks they have secured and pass in the first attempt. Student should always come with their Parents for Admission. The correct contact address & phone number of the parents must be submitted.

LIBRARY

The Library was established in 1999. The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is attached to the main building. The library area is 5000 Sq.m. the LRC provides a pleasant, intellectually stimulating ambience and peaceful place to acquire knowledge. More than 10,000 users frequently refer to the library books/periodicals and Newspapers.

SPORTS

Sports is a crucial part of a student’s growth and development. It help in the development of the candidate by boosting mental health and physical fitness of the body. By participating in sports and games, a student gains various skills, experience and confidence that are helpful for developing their personality.

Facilities are offered for a variety of games and sports activities.  Students are encouraged to participate in all sports activities organized at the inter-collegiate, district and higher level organizations. But the students are informed that they should abide by the directions & dictations of the Director of Physical Education. Any student threatening, bullying or misbehaving with co-players or intimidating and preventing from participation will be expelled from college.

Culturals

Cultural awareness and participation play an integral role in the student’s education. In this high tech world, every student wants to acquire knowledge in every field to stay updated. Co-curricular activities play a vital role in the life of students. Most of the employers love to hire people who are all rounded.
