In March 1970 a Society namely "Vaishali Shiksha Pratisthan " was registered with objective to promote, encourage & spread of professional, technical & general education in Bihar. Admission of first batch completed for the session 1969-70 and teaching work was started in S.K.J. Law College building at Ganipur, Muzaffarpur. In the meantime 170 acres of land was acquired at the east side of Muzaffarpur Sitamarhi road 2 km from zero mile and named as Umanagar.By 1975, four hostel for boys with total capacity of 400 students, a separate girls hostel, Principals quarter, 18 roomed guest house, a bank, a post office and one lac seventy thousand sq.ft. area of college building with two lecture theatre was erupted. The first team of inspectors from MCI visited the institution In 1975 and the second team arrived in 1977 and the M.B.B.S. degree was recognised by MCI in the first chance. Finally on 1.10.1979 it was taken over by Bihar Government.

SKMC Courses are offered at UG, PG, Doctorate level. There are 13 courses offered at SKMC. The courses are offered disciplines like Medical. SKMC courses includes MBBS, M.D. Popular courses at SKMC are MBBS, M.D.

Admission Criteria

MBBS Admission

For Admission to the MBBS, the Candidates must have completed 10+2 with 45% aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the compulsory subjects from a recognized Board. Additionally the candidates need to appear for NEET Entrance Examination, after qualifying which the Candidates need to appear for Counselling. The Candidates who are the Residents of Bihar can Apply for Undergraduate Medical Admission Counselling (UGMAC) which is conducted by Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) for which 85% seats are reserved, and remaining all can apply for the Counselling under All India Quota (AIQ) which is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) for which 15% seats are reserved The Total Fees for the MBBS program is INR 1.13 Lakhs for the Course Duration of 5 Years.

MD/MS Admission

To be Eligible for Admission in MD/MS Program at SKMC Muzaffarpur, The Candidates must have completed MBBS from a recognized Institution. Along with this the Candidate needs to appear for the NEET PG Entrance Examination followed by Counselling conducted by Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board (BCECEB) at the Institution.SKMC Muzaffarpur Offers 8 Specialisations in the Postgraduate program such as Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, PSM (Community Medicine), General medicine, General Surgery, Obst. & Gynae.
