Welcome to SNMV College of Arts and Science
SNMV College of Arts and Science was promoted in 1989, the silver jubilee year of CWA (Coimbatore Welfare Association). It is located in a serene campus of 50 acres at Malumachampatti, near the famous Eachanari temple on Coimbatore-Pollachi national highway.
The untiring efforts of CWA have enabled SNMV to blossom into a centre of learning. Today, it offers a rich array of UG and PG programmes along with Research and Doctoral programmes complemented by fourteen Value Added Courses sponsored by the UGC. The present strength of the college is 3279 students and 145 teaching faculty members and 66 non-teaching staff members. The college is approved by AICTE and is affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
The aim of SNMV is to promote student development through value-based education. The college strongly believes in enhancing the positive growth of youth in order to establish them as citizens who can make the world a better place. It also aspires to foster the development of the myriad cultures and traditions that India proudly nurtures. On the whole, the college intends to ensure that any student, who enters its portals, emerges holistically and socially capable.

Education is a process which contributes to the socio-economic development of the Nation. The efforts taken by Coimbatore Welfare Association (CWA) to provide quality education to the Youth have contributed to this development.
SNMV was established in the year 1989 and is affiliated to Bharathiar University and recognized by the UGC. Owing to the credentials of this college, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has assessed and re-accredited this college with “A” grade. It offers 19 Under Graduate courses and 8 Post Graduate programmes, along with Research and Doctoral Programmes. Since its inception, the college has been consistently attracting students from all parts of the country for its academic excellence.
Its policies are aimed at the overall development of students. In order to accomplish its Vision and Mission, the college has been taking as much effort as possible for the development of the student community. The Management recognizes the commendable performances of the plus two students by awarding Merit and Sports Scholarships.
In the present competitive scenario, colleges have faced with great challenges toward increasing the quality-of-service delivery, providing practical training, ensuring a viable campus environment for both faculty and students and implementing the outcome of research and development in society. As Principal of the college, I am dedicated to putting a management system in place, working towards enhancing the infrastructural facilities and providing a holistic and comprehensive education to the students which can enable them to be employable, through the real enlightenment of the self. The College has a Training and Placement Cell with a full-time Placement Officer who is supported by a coordinator from each department.
The placement cell has signed Mous with Infosys, TCS and Barclays bank for various student and faculty development training programs. Every semester, the placement cell of the college deputes staff members for a 15-day residential training program at Infosys, Mysore campus. The trained staff members handle placement training classes for all UG and PG students, two hours per week, They pay special attention to Global Business Foundation Skills which includes Global mobility, Aptitude, communicative English, interview and presentation skills.
Infosys deputes experts to train a mixed batch of students from all departments every year at the SNMV Campus. The 21-day training helps the students turn themselves into hirable and industry ready candidates. In addition to this, placement training helps the students to perform in competitive exams to get different types of job opportunities.
Barclays bank deputes experts to provide virtual training to all final year students from all departments for 9 days on interview skills and aptitude. The best performers during the training shall get direct interview opportunities with Barclays bank.

Shri Jai Hanuman Temple
Shri Jai Hanuman has his abode inside SNMV CAS campus. Students, teachers and local public visit the temple on all days and derive blessings.
The 16th Annual Kumbhabhishekam of the Shri Jai Hanuman Temple was performed on January 20th, 2015. President, Dr. Ashok G. Bafna;Vice-President, Shri M.M. Bhuradia; Secretary, Shri Ashok Kumar;Joint Secretary (SNMV), Shri Bharathkumar Jaghamani and Joint Secretary (SNV), Shri S.R. Kankani along with the Staff and Students, participated in the function.
Navarathri is celebrated on the campus by keeping ‘Kolu’ in the Anjaneyar Temple every year. Hanuman Jayanthi is also celebrated in the college premises. Special annual poojas like Dhanur Masa Pooja and Saraswathi Pooja are conducted to create a divine environment that fosters and augments the divine purpose of learning.
Class Rooms
The college is providing more than 69 spacious classrooms with good air circulation, through which students achieve a conducive environment for the learning process. In order to monitor and analyze the academic performance of the students, the college has a very efficient tutorial system. Special attention is given to slow and advanced learners by the tutors, and they monitor the academic and disciplinary matters pertaining to the students.
Computer Lab
SNMV College of Arts and Science provides exceptional computer lab services and state-of-the-art computing resources in order to fulfil the academic needs of the student community. The Institution has eight computer labs with high-tech laptops, desktops and Computing systems (Green Environment systems). 538 desktops and laptops are networked through a Local Area Network (LAN). The campus is also Wi-Fi enabled which allows the faculty and students to utilize the labs and department systems for concepts in the curriculum not only for courses related to the Computer Stream, but also for myriad other courses with computer-based design and analysis. The computing facilities are continuously upgraded and modernized to keep up with the changing technology. The labs provide one-to-one access to students for a variety of peripherals.

Department of physics is equipped with electronic, electrical, magnetic, thermal, Microprocessor and general physics equipment’s like Galvanometer, Telescope, Microscope, Ammeter, CRO, CRT, Frequency meter and Spectrometer. These facilities provide individual hands-on working experience, inculcate research interest in young minds and insisting the students to perform the procedures, collecting data, analyzing data.
Boys Hostel
SNMV College provides hostel facilities for the residential convenience of the students. Our hostel facility was established in the year 1998 with strength of 33 boys in one floor. There are now two separate hostels for boys and girls. The residents are from various states such as Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nādu and also residents are from countries like South Africa (Sudan).

Our hostel is a home away from home
Wardens and staff conveners for the HOSTEL provide counseling to hostel residents to motivate them and address their concerns. Staff and students have a Revival Meeting bi-weekly to revamp and freshen up their diminishing synergy. The open discussion in this meeting between the students and wardens helps them to overcome problems which in turn will strengthen them to face a bright future ahead. SNMV hostel provides a good and studious environment for those who want to study with full determination. They have much time to explore the boundaries of education and to enjoy hostel life as well which depends upon time management, Planning and determination.
Anti Ragging Measures
Ragging is prohibited seriously in the hostel and college campus. Corrective steps are taken on the students who involve themselves in ragging. The anti-ragging act of TN legislative assembly has received the assent of Governor on 14th February 1997 and reproduced below: Act No.706 1997 TN prohibition of ragging act 1997. To avoid ragging, teaching staff members are appointed as vigilance officers during the initial stage to assist the wardens. Thus, it takes away the fear of ragging and provides a calm atmosphere for the freshers.

Security
24/7 security service is provided for both men and ladies hostels. A separate lady security is provided to ladies hostels from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Electricity
The hostels have 24 hours power supply. Generators are used during power shutdowns. Well-trained electrician and plumber, have been appointed, who reside in living quarters.
Water Supply
Water is supplied in the hostels with the help of 5 bore well systems. Water tanks are periodically checked and cleaned. Water purifiers have also been installed in hostels.
Solar Water Heater
Solar water heaters have been installed on the roofs of the hostels. The capacity of solar water heater system is 18 kW with total number of panels 48. Around 3000 litre of hot water is daily made available through the system. Moreover, three geysers are available in each hostel to meet unfavourable weather conditions and emergencies.
Girls Hostel
The hostel has three floors, each consisting of 15 rooms with a total of 48 rooms in the Wing I – Hostel, accommodating 3 students in each room. As the strength increased, an additional hostel was constructed with 71 rooms, with an accommodation capacity of 213 students in the year 2002. The residents of the hostel are provided with furniture and amenities such as chairs, tables, cupboards, lights and fans. The hostels have a separate sick room, store room, washing room, reading room and wardens’ room.

We have spacious Canteen with separate seating for students and staff. They serve healthy and hygienic food for reasonable price. A canteen has been located near and easily accessible from the academic and administrative wings. The Cafeteria has been well planned and laid out. The quality of food offered in our college is on par with the best Food.

Yoga
A Yoga Program was conducted on 20.6.2015 at Mahaveers Auditorium by ISha Yoga Foundation to create awareness among the staff members on “how to lead a stress-free life”. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. A Ponnusamy, principal of the college. The session was taken over by Dr. A. Perumal, Head of the Department of History, Government Arts College, Coimbatore, who is also a yoga trainer under the Isha Yoga Foundation wherein he promulgated the basic daily Upayoga poses to be practiced every day for the mental and physical well-being of the faculty members.
A residential meditation camp was organized by Vipaasana Meditation Group on 18.05.2016 to 30.05.2016 at SNMV Campus. 68 residents (26 ladies and 42 gents) participated in this camp and benefited.
International Yoga Day was celebrated on the campus on 20.06.2016. A one-day meditation camp was conducted for the final year UG students at Mahaveers Auditorium by sisters. Rajeswari from Prajapita Brahma Kumaris, Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, Raja Yoga Bhawan 530 students participated in the program.
On 16.12.2016 Mrs V. Nanammal, a 98-year-old Yoga trainer displayed her skills through the myriad yoga asanas that she performed I view of an awestruck audience in order to create awareness about the benefits of yoga. She is a founder and member of Ozone Yoga, a yoga training institute. Dr. A Ponnusamy, Principal gave a Welcome Speech. Dr. Balakrishnan introduced his mother to the audience. He focused on the importance and need for Yoga in order to maintain proper digestion. Approximately 500 students took part in the program and were informed about the role that yoga has to play in preserving the health of generations of a family.

A well-connected network of buses plies to several destinations located at the outskirts of the City making it easy for the student community to commute on a daily basis.
