Shridevi Institute of Engineering and Technology Tumakuru is a premier Institute which was established in the year 2002 under the aegis of Sri Shridevi Charitable Trust (R) (SCT) with the sole aim to impart quality Technical Education to all sections of the society.  SIET is the brainchild of Honorable Dr. M. R. Hulinaykar, Chairman and Managing Trustee of SCT which is running 12 Institutions under various streams of education. Since its inception in the year 2002, the Trust has rendered service to the society in the fields of Education and Health by establishing Hospitals and Colleges.

 
Shridevi Institute of Engineering and Technology is located in a vibrant 10 acre campus on Sira Road, National Highways-4, Tumkur, Karnataka.

 
SIET, Tumkur offers various UG, PG and Doctoral Programs in the fields of Engineering and Management.  Among Undergraduate Courses it offers B.E. (in 7 different disciplines).  Under postgraduate programs it offers MTech (in 3 specializations) and MBA.  The institute offers Ph.D. (in 5 different disciplines).  Admissions to these programs are as per the norms of Government of Karnataka and VTU.

 
The institute has very good infrastructure which provides excellent academic ambience. Modern facilities are used for effective teaching such as LCD projectors, Over head Projectors and interactive DVD’s. A central computing facility and internet with high speed connectivity of 300 mbps leased line which is kept open for the students daily from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  The various facilities provided by SIET include Library, Classrooms, Dept-wise Laboratories, Seminar Hall, Auditorium, Canteen, Boys & Girls Hostel, Sports facilities, Multi Gym, Campus Placement Drive, Alumni Assn., Transportation, Conference Hall, Medical & Security, IIC, and other facilities.

 
Consistent contributions made by SIET over the years are well recognized at the national level.  Both students and faculty are motivated and inspired to reach high standards of education and skill sets to rise and shine in their chosen fields.   The SIET Faculty has an impressive Academic, Research and Industrial experience which enable them to lead the students to achieve ‘Excellence’ and ‘Competence’. This in turn enhances the core strength of students and enables them to strive and attain all-round development.

 
To help the students SIET has introduced a unique Tutor system where a teacher is attached for a group of 20 students and regular meetings are conducted by the Tutor to try to resolve any problems that the students in that group may face in any aspect.  The concept/role of Tutor is to act as a friend, philosopher, and guide to the students in molding their careers. 

 
The Institute also has a unique association called ‘Students, Parents, Teachers and Management Association’ to bring them together and deliberate upon various issues related to the students. The common goal of the association is to create innovative and responsible citizens out of the students. 

 
Department of Training and Placement is very active part of the SIET Tumkur which acts as nodal point for the placements of final year students. The Department which is headed by the Training and Placement Officer and supported by all the departments’ placement faculty coordinators and student representatives, provides a platform to the recruiting organizations and graduating students so that the passing out students gets the job he/she deserves.  Some of the Top Recruiters are Infosys, Mahindra COMVIVA, NEC, Nokia, Oracle, Bosch, Unisys, Optum, Accenture, ABB, Capgemini, Dell,IBM, HSBC, and more.

 
The Alumni Association of SIET encourages the alumni, the global ambassadors, to take a keen interest in the growth of its alma mater. It is compulsory for all passing out B.E, MBA and M.Tech students to enroll themselves in the Alumni Association.  The association organizes annual reunion meets and motivates and exhorts the alumni to share their knowledge and expertise for the growth of their alma mater. The departmental Heads invite eminent alumni to deliver technical lectures for the benefit of the students. Alumni Association of SIET cultivates a close bond between alumni and the Institute by intimating them through E-Mail and Social Media about the activities and developments that take place in the Institute.

i). Corporate to College and ii) College to Community

Corporate to College: The objectives of this practice is to enhance the professional skills of students, improve their employability and organize training programs, to motivate students for higher education and entrepreneurship so as to empower them with current industry needs and job requirements. This further enhances the knowledge which enables learners to think in terms of problem solving, team work, making inferences, drawing conclusions and most importantly higher cognitive skills for professional development.

College to Community: The objectives of this practice is to design a Community Development Program  as a part of the curriculum for exposing the students of SIET to Society and Rural problems with an aim to inculcating in them a desire to understand, analyze and address those problems by leveraging their technical education and skills.  The program aims at empowering rural people through innovative and socially contextualized education, fostering a sense of human rights founded on dignity, equity and justice, initiating ICT integrated socially relevant research, promoting people-friendly policies and establishing an organic link between lab and land facilitating gender equity both on and off the campus.

The first thing eligibility of the course was students want to pass in 12th or 2 puc, they would come under management or government quota, I have found application form through college only, as compared to me my college was good placements are somewhat good.

Scholarship

I pay 65k for CET that is for the seat that I have availed in the entrance test and college fees for CET students is less as compared to management. We CET students pay 12k for 1st year and 10k for the next 3 years. There are many scholarships available ie. state govt. And Central govt student scholarship.

Library
SIET Central Library, at the heart of the Campus, provides an ideal environment for intellectual inquiry with its multiple Study Spaces, Research Assistance, and Reading, Learning and Instructional Resources. The State-of-the-Art facilities established to provide much-needed services to support excellence in Teaching, Learning, Research, and Extension. The User-focused facilities and services provide seamless access to resources and to evaluate Scholarly information to learn and create new Knowledge.

The SIET Central library situated in second floor with an area of 840 sq.m. Designed in such a way it has natural light over entire day and provides a friendly environment to gain knowledge in an effective manner. Accommodating various facilities, reading and learning resources, and seating arrangements for about 200 Users at any point-of-time. Wi-Fi, Internet access, Electrical plug-in facilities, etc. Digital Learning Resources and Online access to major E-Journals and E-Books on Science and Technology, Management available from VTU Consortia and Developing Library Network (DELNET). KOHA, an Integrated Library Management Software package is used for Library operations. Institutional Repository (IR), a digital repository of SIET at Central Library, where students can access earlier final year academic project reports submitted by our students. Centrally well-protected Fire alarms and CCTV surveillance.

About Library
The Library in SIET main campus is well equipped with 38215 reference and text books on current subjects, 71 National Journals, 19 International Journals and good number of Institution project reports.

Library provides services like borrowing, reference, internet e-mail and e-journals facilities to students, teachers and research scholars of all the departments. The Library is getting e-journals under VTU E-Consortium program.

Our Library also have Journal section, reference section, magazine section, internet connectivity, scanning facility, printing and Digital Library where students can browse, photocopying and printing is provided to the students Qualified, experienced and well trained Library professionals serve the user community with excellence and provide assistance in meeting academic and research information needs.

Currently the library is located in the second floor of academic block building with lift facility.

Hostel & Mess Facility
The hostel complex accommodates more than 1300 students. Two independent blocks are provided for boys and girls. The hostels premise encompasses a beautiful garden. Each hostel has a resident rector to maintain the discipline. Hostel rooms are specious and nicely ventilated. A new ladies hostel is under construction.

The hostels have excellent boarding facilities on expenditure sharing basis. Utmost care is taken to provide hygienic delicious food and water. Strict discipline is maintained in the hostel. There are facilities for Indoor games. The hostels have round the clock generator facility.

The hostel is managed by a resident warden. Every inmate is to conduct himself / herself as per rules and regulations of the Institution. Hostel in timings for girls 6:30 pm and Boys 10:00 pm.

Hostel Mess: A canteen is situated in the premises of the Institution and sufficient care is taken to see that healthy and wholesome food is served during working hours.

Other Facilities
Other facilities like laundry, PCO / STD / ISD call booths, gents and ladies parlor, sweet mart, fruit mall medical store, general store, stationary store are made available in the sanstha’s campus.

Conference Hall
Our Institute maintains a well equipped Seminar Hall, which accommodates for at-least 200 persons complete with Video Camera, Slide Projector, LCD, OHP, sound system etc. It proves ideal for place seminars, meetings, workshops, guest lectures, group use of Audio-Visual material etc.

24 x 7 Water and Electric Power
A 200 KVA diesel genset as a standby is installed to take care of uninterrupted power supply to the entire campus. All the hostels are provided with round the clock security, uninterrupted power & water supply, cooled potable water, solar hot water systems. Recreational facility, Telephone facility etc.

Medical & Security
The Institute has well equipped Medical Cell which takes cares any emergency for students medical problems. The students are provided medical treatment with utmost care.


Transport
SIET owns new buses to reach the campus from in and around and places of Tumakuru. Autorikshaws and City Buses are also available to to reach the SIET campus.
