Siddaganga Institute of Technology, popularly known as SIT, is an Autonomous Institute which was established in 1963. It is one among 125 institutions established by Sree Sree Shivakumara Swamiji under Sree Siddaganga Education Society, in Tumkur, Karnataka. SIT's curriculum is based upon a strong foundation of critical thinking, and problem-solving for developing lifelong learning in students.

 
SIT has a sprawling 50 acre campus on the N.H. 206, B.H. Road, Tumkur, Karnataka. The Institute is located 70 km from Bangalore city on National Highway 48.

Siddaganga Institute of Technology offers various UG, PG and Doctoral programs in the fields of Engineering, Architecture, Management and Computer Application.  Some of the popular courses are B.E. (in 13 Disciplines),  B.Arch, PG-Diploma (Biotech Finishing School), MBA, MCA, M.Tech (in 4 disciplines) and Research programs leading to Ph.D/M.Sc (Engg) (in 14 disciplines). The eligibility for admissions to these courses is as follows:

B.E. - should have obtained a rank in KEA CET/COMED-K/JEE–Mains /State level Entrance Test conducted for Engineering admissions.

B.Arch - marks in NATA Entrance Exam

M.Tech - GATE qualified or PGCET of Karnataka

MBA - Entrance Exam KMAT/ CMAT / MAT / PGCET - any one mandatory

MCA - Entrance Exam KMAT or PGCET - any one mandatory

PhD/MSc (Research) - Working professionals/faculty and others with a Postgraduate qualification in the related discipline are eligible to apply for a Ph.D. The required qualification for M.Sc. (Eng.) programs is a 4-year Engineering degree program in the related discipline.

SIT is the first institution among the affiliated colleges of the Visvesvaraya Technological University to establish a full-fledged Training and Placement Department with a senior professor, experienced in industry, as its head. The department is responsible for contacting industries, invite them for campus recruitment. It also provides Guest house accommodation, local hospitality and other infrastructural facilities to the industries to effectively and efficiently conduct campus selection programs.  During the last few years, the department has been successful in getting a number of Top Companies to visit SIT for campus recruitment. The institute has about 310 experienced, qualified and devoted faculty members with143 of them having Ph.D. from reputed institutions like IISc, Bangalore, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati and others. Another 68 of our faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. programme at various reputed institutions.  The SIT Faculty members have considered research as an integral part of teaching and are actively engaged in research and pursuing sponsored research projects from DRDO, DST, ISRO, AICTE, VGST and others, the total funding being Rs.100 million. The research work and project works carried out by the faculty and students has resulted in good publications in conferences and refereed journals. Academic Eligibility for Four Years under Graduate Programs (B.E./B.Arch):

1. Through CET (Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority) / COMED-K Entrance Examination (Consortium of Medical, Engineering & Dental Colleges - Karnataka)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR B.E:
A Candidate who has successfully passed 10 + 2 pattern of examination (equivalent to the two year Pre University in Karnataka) with Physics and Mathematics ascompulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Biology / Computer Science / Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination is eligible to pursue undergraduate degree in engineering at S.I.T.
The eligibility for admission is 45% in case of General Category and 40% in case of SC/ST, Category-1 and OBC Category candidates in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects in the qualifying examination. The marks obtained by the candidate in Biology / Computer Science / Electronics in the qualifying examination will be considered in the place of Chemistry in case the marks obtained in Chemistry is less for the required aggregate percentage for the purpose of determination of eligibility.
To Obtain a seat under Management quota in any branch candidate should compulsorily appear and obtained a rank in KEA 2022 / COMED-K 2022 / JEE – Mains 2022 / State level entrance test conducted for Engineering admissions.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR B.Arch
A Candidate who has successfully passed 10 + 2 examination (equivalent to the two year Pre-university in Karnataka) with overall aggregate of 50% and English as one of the Language and the candidate shall have an aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics also.
A Candidate who has successfully passed 10+3 Diploma Examination with Mathematics as compulsory subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
The candidate should also appear and secure a minimum of 40% marks in NATA(Including SC / ST, Category-1 and OBC category candidates) conducted by the Council of Architecture.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR NRIs/FQ/PIO under Supernumerary Quota to B.E:
10 + 2 pattern of education which is equivalent to Pre-university of Karnataka, India with Physics, Mathematics along with Chemistry / Computer Science / Electronics / Biology as optional with English as one of the language of study and obtained a minimum 50% of marks in the optional subjects (as per VTU eligibility criteria for the year 2019-20).
NRIs- Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries are eligible for NRI Quota (as per The Gazette of India – 2004).
Foreign Nationals – Citizens of all countries other than India. (As per The Gazette of India – 2004).
PIO – Person who are citizens of other countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) who at any time held an Indian Passport, or who or either of his parents or any of his grandparents was a citizen of India by virtue of the provisions of the Constitution of India (as per the Gazette of India – 2004).

SIT Tumkur Placements

The college has a placement and training department that aims to upskill interested candidates and help them in getting successfully placed in a reputed organisation. Soft skill training programme, communicative English programme, feel employable programme, aptitude and analytical skills programme, and advanced technical programme are some of the training sessions conducted by the Siddaganga Institute of Technology Tumkur placement cell. Together can accommodate 2,200 students in a plinth area of 30,021 Sq.m.Each hostel block is managed under the supervision of a Deputy Warden who is a faculty member of S.I.T. He is assisted by managers and workers.Each room in all the hostels has been furnished with cots, tables, chairs, book racks and a ceiling fan.

Medical/Hospital
SIT Tumkur facilities include hospital services which is supervised by two doctors, one nurse, and other supporting staff members. The medical services can be used by students as well as other members of the Siddaganga Institute of Technology Tumkur.

SIT Alumni Association is formed with the sole objective of bringing all the SITians onto a platform for the mutual benefits. The 1st batch of students have rolled out of the institution in 1968, Since then, there are around 33,753 students who have left the portals of this institution and occupied various positions in the organisations around the world. The association became very active since 1999 under the stewardship of Dr. M N Channabasppa, Director, SIT Tumkur. The 1st meet was held on 2nd October 1999, since then meets are held on the 2nd Oct of every year. Bangalore Chapter was formed in 2001, meets are held on 1st May every year since then. Hyderabad Chapter is formed in the year 2006. It is also proposed to start similar chapters in other parts of India & worldwide.
