SJB School of Architecture and Planning aspires to provide a pro- poor, pro- rural focus to a profession that is otherwise perceived to be elitist and urban. The vision of the School is to ‘think global and serve locally’, a tradition followed by His Holiness Balagangadhranatha Swamiji all his life.
The School aspires to be a ‘one-stop’ destination for courses encompassing most disciplines that can be classified as part of the ‘Built Environment’. In its early years, two under graduate programs- Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Planning will co- exist and complement two inseparable professions. As soon as these two primary offerings of the School achieve stability, the focus will shift to bringing about specialized disciplines such as Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design and Construction Management emerging as the most comprehensive School in south India, with the aim of providing world class planning for cities and rural areas.

To help students develop a global outlook, student exchange programs will be initiated with leading universities from the UK, USA, Australia and Far East. To bring students and professors from around the world to SJBSAP, the School will offer ‘Curated Architectural tours’, giving them option to explore Indian heritage and Architecture.

Architecture Placements in Bangalore have excellent records. The salary packages vary with different colleges. The students are offered packages ranging from 2.5 to 8.2 lakh depending on the industry based roles.

There are no scholarships/loan facilities provided by college (as of my knowledge).However there are schloraships provided for minorities and OBC's by their respective private associations. There is always an option for conventional educational loan from a bank.

Library

SJB SAP library supports students and faculties in learning and teaching. The library houses more than 600 volumns of Architectural books. The collection covers subjects like Architecture, Art, history, interior design, urban design, landscape design , building services, sociology etc. Over 15 National/ International Journals Identified to be updated with the field. Library is open 66 hours per week .

3D Printer at SJBSAP

Architects are the key players in the design and production of built enviornments. While doing is they ensure that the end product is architecturaly meaningful with the functional requirements. The five year program equips students with the competencies for being effective professional architects.

The program is centered on ‘ studios’ where students are expected to resolve design problems on their own with the guidance of expert faculties. The studios are eqipped with drafting tables and chairs and can accommodate 40 students . Higher semester students will work in e-studios . The studios are open through out the day and operate as learning communities. Here students come up with meaningful spaces and design to convey their ideas.

Facilities shared with the SJBIT will include hostels, canteen, sports facilities, gymnasium, etc

Class Rooms

Classrooms are provided to handle tutorials and can accommodate 40 students at a time. Courses and seminars which run parallel to the studios expose students to history, technology, architecture theory and other dimensions of architecture.

Labs

a.Computer Lab
Computer Aided Drafting and Design has made work easier for architects over the years. Softwares have enabled architects to put forward their visions easily to their clients. CAD lab equipped with workstations with up-to-date specifications will be made available to the students to assist them in their academic pursuits.
CAD is a compulsory part of the curriculam which will enable the students to be well equipped to face the practical world outside the college.

b.Climatology Lab
Climatic information of a place is an important parameter while designing buildings. Climatology is a part of B Arch program. In order to make students aware of the importance of designing according to the climate , a climatology lab with modern equippments has been established. Here we have equipments to measure temparature, humidity ,wind speed etc.


Model Making Workshop

Model making workshop plays an important role in learning through hands -on experimentation. Students are encouraged to explore different materials like paper, wood, wires , thermocol etc. in model making.
Separate spaces remarked for the workshops in the new building and will be equipped with laser cutters, 3D printers, electric kilns etc.The workshop is staffed with faculty and experts who instruct and guide students in the use of the equipments .Physical models enable both the professional and the layman to visualize the finer aspects of the concept as well as the finished product.

Exhibition Spaces
An entire floor is devoted for the exhibition of students works and models in the new building. One separate section will be only for the building materials display . This will help the students to update their knowlwege on the materials available in the market.
