The Government Sri Krishnarajendra Silver Jubilee Technological Institute, Bangalore was founded in the year 1938 by the two erstwhile Dewans, Sir Mirza Ismail and Sir M. Visvesvaraya, as a commemoration of 25 years of the reign by the Late His Highness Nalwadi Krishnarajendra Wodeyar Bahadur, Maharaja of Mysore.  This institution, the first of its kind in South India,  provides students with a comprehensive education that covers all aspects of technology and churn out well-trained personnel for higher positions of the organized Textile Industry, covering its various facets and helping it to grow year after year.  Today SKSJTI can claim to be the tallest institution and is under the control of the Department of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka.

SKSJT Institute campus is located in a serene and peaceful 16 acres of land on Nrupathunga Rd, Ambedkar Veedhi, Sampangi Rama Nagar, Bengaluru, Karnataka.

The SKSJT Institute offers BE and B.Tech UG Degree programs and ME and M.Tech PG programs.  It also offers PhD doctoral programs in the field of Textile Science, Engineering and Technology.   Admission to B.E & B.Tech courses is through Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority, Govt. of Karnataka, Bangalore.  Admissions for ME & M.Tech is through PGCET/GATE Entrance Test conducted by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.  Eligibility for Ph. D course is as per Admission Regulations of Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka.

The Alumni of the Institute has spread all over the India in Industry, Research Organizations, Government Service and other related fields.  The Alumni also contribute to its Alma Mater by taking part in Guest lecturers, Career Counseling, Assistance in placement activities, Award of medals to meritorious students, etc.  The Golden Jubilee and Diamond Jubilee of this institute was celebrated by the Alumni Association on a very grand scale and many of the past students from different parts of the country and from abroad had participated on the joyous occasion.

The SKSJTI students are encouraged to take part in Extra-Curricular Activities and are motivated to participate in inter and intra college cultural, sports and other activities.  The students are also inspired to organize and take part in Literary activities which include Debate, Seminar, Quiz, Essay Competition, Magazine, Newsletter, Technical activities, etc.  The Institute also holds Tech-Fest as follows: Paper Presentation, Technical Quiz, Project Work Competition and more.

This institute has been selected under Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP-II) of Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, and Government of India. The college is covered under sub-component 1.1 of TEQIP-II Phase and the Institute has received a grant of 2 crore towards first installment.

Selection of candidates is done on the basis of marks obtained in Karnataka CET and counselling conducted by DTE Karnataka. Minimum percentile of marks to be secured in 10+2 is relaxed for SC/ST candidates by 5%. All candidates must apply through KCET and its respective counselling only

Training and Placement: Our Institute provides assistance and guidance to our students in getting jobs and to meet the demands of the competitive world for the Industry. Results from the beginning are very good with majority of the students getting First Class with Distinction. Industries visit the Institute and conduct campus Interviews for final year students. Placements are assured before the completion of the course.

The institute offers financial assistance to meritorious candidates in the form of fee waiver, loan assistance and prize money and more. It also offers placement assistance to deserving candidates who maintain a sound academic record in all semesters. About Library

The information society has brought developments in the way information is created, consolidated, and accessed. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has produced large volumes of information, new ways of packaging information, and new tools for managing information to meet the changing demands of the user community. In view of the complex information need of society, the Library and information center have to play a greater role in building, developing, and disseminating information. The Govt. S.K.S.J.T Institute Library acts as a Central knowledge center comprise of documents in Engineering subjects (Textile, Civil, E&C, and  CS&E). The Library has a collection of 21957. (Statistics as of 11.06.2022). Social welfare Department, Govt of Karnataka also assisting in building in SC/ST Book Bank in the Library. In the recent past, the collection has also been enriched by donations of valuable books from students and Faculty. The college Library has a member of the VTU Consortium. GSKSJTI SPORTS   “Sports are institutionalized competitive activities that involve vigorous physical exertion” Sports mirror the values, structures, and dynamics of our society. The qualities such as honesty, loyalty, modesty, sincerity, co-operation etc are best developed among students through sports. The practice of physical and sports activities provides a favorable opening for the development of Individual talent, Rehabilitation, Social integration and Solidarity. Aristotle says “Body and mind should be driven like a pair of horses hitched to a shaft” Both are two sides of the same coin and both complement each other. The importance of sports in colleges is rapidly increasing in day-to-day life due to sports awareness and recognition. Vision To achieve sports excellence through acquisition, organization, and maintenance of necessary resources for current and anticipated sports programs of the institution. Mission  To make the sporting activity accessible to every student regardless of his or her abilities or interests and also to support the Institute’s mission of promoting and preserving young sports talent. Objectives 1. To Promote, Motivate and Support young sports talent. 2. Preparing students to compete at higher levels such as Zonal, Inter-Zonal, University, State, Nationals, Internationals, etc. 3. To develop Physical fitness among the students. 4. To extract hidden sports talent of students.

Laboratories:

The Laboratories are – Spinning, Weaving, Knitting, Testing, Dyeing, Printing, Garment Manufacture, Silk Technology, Mechanical Workshop, Computer laboratory, Electronics & Communication Engineering laboratory and an I.T Centre with computers established by Nodal Centre for Up gradation of Textile Education, Government of India. Library: Government S.K.S.J.T. Institute has an excellent library pertaining to Textile Technology and other Engineering disciplines. It has got a collection of more than 12000 books. National and International Journals have been subscribed for the benefit of Students. Hostel: A hostel is attached to the Institute having 33 rooms with Mess facilities for boys. Girl students are accommodated in adjacent Govt. Women's Polytechnic hostel within the campus.
