Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women is named after a renowned Japanese Poet and Buddhist Philosopher Dr. Daisaku Ikeda and Soka Education System, which stresses on moral building. Dr. Daisaku Ikeda is the Honorary Founder and Mrs. Kaneko Ikeda is the Honorary Principal of the College.

Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women has gloriously embarked on the twenty fourth year with many accolades and achievements since its inception in the year 2000.

The College is an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution and is affiliated to the University of Madras and recognized by the Government of Tamil Nadu (G.O.281). The College offers 12 courses at the UG level, 4 courses at the PG level in Shift-I and 5 UG courses, 3 PG courses in Shift-II.

Application for admission can be obtained from the College Office and Sethu Bhaskara Matriculation Higher Secondary School, No. 59, Valliammal Street, Pudur, Ambattur, Chennai – 600 053 on payment of Rs.200/- in cash or DD drawn in favour of Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Chennai.

The candidates are admitted to any one of the degree programme after due scrutiny of the application. Students selected for admission should pay their first semester fees in one installment and submit the following certificates in original.

Transfer Certificate.
10th, +1, +2 Mark Statements of Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary/Other State Board/CBSE/ UG Mark Sheet/ UG Degree Certificate.
Community Certificate.
Income Certificate (for candidates eligible to avail SC & ST Scholarship).
Certificate of physical fitness from a registered Medical Practitioner.
Aadhar card photo copy.
The candidates who have passed in anyone of the following examination should produce the Eligibility Certificate obtained from the University of Madras.
Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu Government (private study).
Private candidate from the open school system.
Higher Secondary or equivalent examination conducted by all other State Board in India/ Abroad.
The Candidates applying for PG courses who have studied UG in other Universities should produce Provisional Eligibility Certificate obtained from the University of Madras.
Five passport size photographs of the candidate and a passport size photograph of the candidate's parents or guardian is needed at the time of the admission.

Objectives

Responsibilities
To plan and organise placement drives, bringing in established companies.
To co-ordinate in the smooth functioning of the job fairs.
To keep updated with the various and relevant recruitment.
To organise programmes to make students ready for the job market.
To bring experts to enrich them on the interview etiquette.
To groom the students and to assist them in getting placed in reputed companies.
The Co-ordinator should ensure proper documentation of the events conducted, profile of the companies visited and the placement details along with evidences.

The College provides various scholarships to the meritorious, poor eligible students in addition to the Government scholarships and merit-based Tamilnadu Educational Trust scholarships. College also provides free education for the students who are excelling in sports.

COMPUTER LABS

A state of art computer laboratory and multi-media laboratory that contains all the latest technical gizmos with the latest configuration of computers and updated versions of all software occupies the place of pride in the campus. The Department provides an excellent training platform to hone the computing skills of the students.

BIO CHEMISTRY LAB

A well-equipped laboratory is the greatest asset of any ideal educational institution. To impart practical knowledge of the subject to the students a modern laboratory comprising of all the latest clinical instruments has been set up in the sprawling campus.

PHYSICS LAB

A scientific temperament is nurtured through fully equipped and suitably designed laboratory for Physics. Students are encouraged to use the facilities for enhancing their innovative and scientific skills.

The Library has been named after the Honorary Principal, Mrs. Kaneko Ikeda. Kaneko Library, a repository of book house contains 12,762 books, 20 journals, dictionaries, thesis, back volumes, magazines, e- Resource like (N -List), which help the students to enrich themselves. Library runs on Library Management System, SAFELIB.
