Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering (SCTCE), Thiruvananthapuram was established by the Govt. of Kerala in the year 1995 in memoriam of the Great Maharaja of Travancore and is affiliated to the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University(KTU) of Kerala with AICTE approval. The Institution has the broad objective of grooming young men and women into technocrats through the process of engineering education, training and research. SCTCE offers 7 undergraduate and postgraduate courses. SCTCE is also a research centre under APJ Abdul Kalam Technological university

Placement Training
At present, the competition for employment is increasing every day and placement has become a challenging task. Training students and equipping them with life skills has become an important responsibility of the institution. Along with technical expertise, the development of a holistic personality is also necessary. To meet these requirements, a fully-fledged training cell is operating in our college CGPU to enhance the capabilities of engineering graduates on par with the industry standards.
The Placement training plays a major role in grooming and shaping the career goals of students by enhancing their employability skills and achieving good placement in various prestigious organizations. It is the dream of every engineering student to get placed in a top organization visiting their campus for recruitment in their core domain. Keeping this key aspect into consideration, it is realized that training is important for budding engineers. The Placement training starts right from the induction programme of the freshers.

Library

The Central Library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organisation and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing value added services. The Central library has more than 32,000 books and 66 national and international journals/magazines. Apart from the Conventional Library, there exists a Digital library which contains sufficient digital documents such as E-books, E-journals, Technical Reports, and Project Reports etc. The SCTCE Library provides access to E-journal packages viz. IEL online (IEE), Elsevier’s Science Direct, ASME, Springer, DELNET and NDL membership. E-resources can be accessed through the Campus Wi-Fi network to all computers and Wi- Fi enabled laptops and cell phones in the institute. DELNET can be accessed remotely by authorised users. An amount of around 250000/- is spent each year on procurement of various kinds of information sources. Books to prepare for Competitive examinations like Civil Services, GATE, NDA, CDS, CAT etc. are stocked in the Proficiency corner of the Library. Library operations are fully automated with the Library Management Software LIBSOFT. Books are being arranged on open access shelves for easy search and retrieval purposes and classified according to DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification) system.

Hostel
Hostel committee functioning in the college is to provide hostel facilities to the students .Every year the hostel committee invite quotations from various hostels to provide hostel facility within 7 KMs from the campus. Then the hostel committee visited these hostels and verify the facility and neatness. Then a list of approved hostels will be published in the college notice board.

Sports

Our Institution is providing very good facilities for the development of sports activities among the students. The entire sports activities of the college is coordinated by the sports committee headed by Principal. Convenor of the committee will be a faculty nominated by Principal during every academic year.

Facilities

Institution is having a Basketball court, Badminton court, Volley ball court, Nets for practicing cricket and a practice facility for Hand ball. Students are permitted to practice in various turfs located nearby the institution whenever required.

The institution operates one College bus and is managed by a committee headed by Dr.Kamal Krishna R,Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department.The bus route and the fare is as follows.Bus follow the same routes in the morning and evening.
