Sri Basaveshwara Institute of Technology a Premier Engineering College in the country, established in the year 2008 has been carrying forward the legacy of Sri Basaveshawara.  The Institute is run by the Sri Basaveshwara Education Society which was founded by the respected Sri H.N. Halappa - Chairman who totally devoted his life to the cause of education with a mission to develop competent Engineers with good value systems, to face the challenges of the ever-changing world. SBIT has been the guiding force for thousands of aspiring engineers, shaping their future and making them emerging Professionals that India would be proud of. 

 
The SBIT lush green Campus is set in a Peaceful Environment spread over a serene and sprawling 50 acre land strategically located in Medenur Gate, B.H. Road, Tiptur, Tumkur, Karnataka State. Sri Basaveshwara Institute of Technology is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgavi and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and Government of Karnataka. Sri Basaveshwara Institute of Technology offers Bachelor of Engineering degree programs in 5 disciplines, namely B.E. in Civil, Mechanical, ECE, CScE and EEE.  Admission to these courses is based on KCET by KEA scores.

Admission Procedure

Candidate should have passed in 2nd PUC / 12th Std / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and obtained a Minimum of 45% of Marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / BioTechnology / Biology / Electronics / Computer. (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates). Candidate should have qualifying rank in either CET or Management Norms.

Admision Criteria

• Apply through Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) counseling (KCET)
• Option for COMEDK or management quota admissions
• Fill application form and submit required documents
• Merit-based seat allotment
• Fee payment and confirmation of admission

Eligibility Criteria:

• B.E: 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science with qualifying marks + KCET/COMEDK score

Scholarship

Students can avail government scholarships such as SC/ST, OBC, and merit-based schemes. Financial assistance is also provided for economically weaker sections.

Project Work

Apart from the curriculum activity, the students are encouraged to do a project work in the field of their own interest. This work helps the, to keep a step ahead in future tp their need in higher studies, research and in career.

Practical Training

Students are also encouraged to undergo training in hospitals to acquaint them with the rational use of drugs, prescription monitoring, pharmacist-physician-patient interaction and patient counseling. The practical Training of minimum of 400hrs is compulsory for the students.

Facilities Offered @ Sri Basaveshwara Institute of Technology, Tiptur

Computer Lab is well equipped with total 80 computers and all are connected through local network. A 10 Mbps leased line connection from BSNL caters for the Internet facility and the Email. The Centre is open 365 days in a year. The timing in from 8.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. There are over 1000 students utilizing this facility.Computer Lab is equipped with the latest Softwares and Hardware Configuration Which is required for the high quality service, students can download various topics from Internet for their educational purpose.As the maximum goes "A Sound Mind in a Sound Boy". SBIT provides immense opportunity the students to prove their skills and prowess in Sports and Games. Sportsmen is "person who can take loss or defeat without complaint or Victory Without gloating and who teats his opponents with fairness, generosity, courtesy, etc .

At present there are two hostels for boys and one hostel for girls. The two gents hostels have the capacity to accommodate 340 students. The girls hostel, can accommodate 90 students. Each hostel is provided with modem amenities such as recreation room including facilities for indoor games.All the rooms in the hostels have been provided with fans and are modestly furnished. Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian foods are available to the students. The atmosphere in the hostel is conducive to the development of the cosmopolitan outlook.

Owing to the notional character of the college and its hostel, the students develop integrated personalities over a period of harmonious living in the hostels. A certain measure of self- governing, decision making and problem solving is involved in the hostel administration. This aspect of the college hostel life promotes the students sense of responsibility and sensitive self-awareness.

Central Library occupies a place of pride in Sri Basaveshwara institute of Technology and is an essential component of the college's outstanding research and education mission. It is a most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, and promotes discovery and scholarship. The mission of the Central Library is to facilitate creation of new knowledge through acquisition, organization and dissemination of knowledge resources and providing for value added services

SBIT Institutions has separate laboratories for all the subjects such as Mechanical Labs, Chemistry Labs, Physics Lab, Electronic Lab and Electronic Lab with sophisticated instruments. All the labs are well-equipped with ultra-modern instruments and experimental facilities.

Hostel

Separate hostel facilities are available for boys and girls with clean accommodation, security, and mess services. The hostels ensure a safe and comfortable living environment for students from different regions.

Transport

The College provides its own transportation for students residing outside the campus. The transport facility is provided to students commuting from all parts of Tumkur and surrounding areas. Transportation is subsidised for the staff and students.
