About

Sri Jayachamarajendra College Of Engineering, a private Institute conceived in 1963, is the dream child of His Holiness Jagadguru Lingaikya Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamigalavaru, the 23rd pontiff of Sri Suttur Math. It comes under the aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, and was officially inaugurated by the esteemed founder of Manipal Institutes, Dr. T.M.A.Pai, the then chairman of the Academy of Education, Manipal, Mysore State.

 
SJCE is the first college in Karnataka to introduce Electronics and Communication branch of engineering in the year 1968. Then followed Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation (1978), Computer Science and Engineering 1982), Information Science and Engineering (2000). Many Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses were also started.

SJCE campus is spread over 120 acres adjacent to Manasa Gangothri (the campus of the University of Mysore) and the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing.  The beautiful and vibrant college is located inside The JSS Technical Institutions Campus, University Of Mysore Campus, Mysuru, Karnataka.  The Institution serves as one of the major landmarks of the western part of Mysore, with its sprawling campus and several recognizable buildings.

 
Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering is a Constituent College of JSS Science and Technology University and managed under JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru.  It was recognized and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi.  The college has been conferred Autonomous Status by, the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi and governed by the grant-in-aid rules of the Govt. of Karnataka. It has been selected as Lead Institute for Assistance by World Bank under Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) Scheme of Government of India scheme and has been granted a generous and sumptuous Rs.20 crores.  The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked it 158 among Engineering Colleges in 2022.

 
SJCE offers several courses at the UG, PG and Doctoral level such as BE, MTech, MBA, MCA, and PhD on both Full Time and Part Time modes.    However, the institute is mainly known for its flagship BE course and admission is strictly based on qualifying exams like KCET and COMED K. The Institute accepts a valid KCET score followed by counselling rounds for BE admission. Candidates can also apply for the MBA and MCA programs which are offered for a duration of 2 years. Candidates must have a valid PGCET score to apply for the SJCE PG programs. The institute also offers PhD programs and admission to this course is based on the merit-basis.

Admission Procedure

Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), Mysore is an autonomous institution under VTU Belgaum and governed by the grant-in-aid rules of the Government of Karnataka. Admission Criteria

B.Tech Admission 

SJCE Mysore offers B.Tech as its flagship course in 9 different specializations. Admission to these programs is based on scores in the KCET entrance exam and COMEDK for non-Karnataka students, followed by KEA and COMEDK Counsellings, respectively.

PG Admission

SJCE Mysore offers PG programs in M.Tech, MBA, and MCA. Admission to PG programs is based on entrance exams, followed by centralized counseling by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). For MCA and MBA, 50% of the seats are also filled through management quota. The Total fees for PG courses range from INR 1.28 Lakhs to INR 1.51 Lakhs, depending on the specialization.

1. Admission through KCET

• Karnataka candidates have to apply for the KCET entrance exam on the KEA website.

• Appear for the KCET exam, after the results, participate in the KEA counselling process.

• In the counselling process, candidates can choose SJCE Mysore as their preferred college.

• After that, candidates can pay the fee through the KEA portal and report to the college.

• Admission is based on KCET rank, category, and preferences.

• Candidates have to register for the COMEDK UGET entrance exam (open to all Karnataka & Non-Karnataka candidates) on the COMEDK website.

• Appear for the COMEDK exam.

• After the result, participate in the COMEDK central counselling, and select SJCE Mysore during the counselling rounds.

• Admission is based on the COMEDK rank, category, and preferences.

• Pay the fee, and report to SJCE Mysore to complete the admission.

Scholarship

Students can avail government scholarships (SC/ST/OBC), merit-based scholarships, and financial aid schemes. Additional support is provided for economically weaker students.

Placement

With the blessing of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji , SJCE has become the most sought after destinations amongst the students. SJCE is one of the dream destinations and attracts highly meritorious students from various parts of Karnataka and also abroad. This is mainly attributed to many factors; one of them being in SJCE’s efforts to get the students placed in various organizations through campus placements organized by the Placement and Training Cell. SJCE has been in the forefront of activities bringing both corporate and companies close to the campus and encouraging then to establish facilities to cater to the needs of both faculty and students.Placement and Training department takes initiative to provide adequate training to students to enable them to have better employability skills compared to other colleges.

There are lot of initiative from companies in providing full time internship to our P.G students in the final year itself. These internships after their performance over six months / One Year would be converted to full time employment. Most coveted internship the selection for which was multi-level will have tough competition from various colleges across India.

The placement department arranges campus interviews from various national and multi-national companies for campus recruitment and also helps various Head of Departments in placing the students for project work at industries and other research & development organizations. The placement center has an impressive track record of both placements and participating industries. Besides this, the placement center organizes mock interviews, personality development courses, seminars, group discussions, invited talks and road shows of prospective employers. Skill tests are also conducted to prepare the students for tests and interviews.

 Internship recruitment for PG student 

• Internship recruitment drive for M.Tech students normally starts between Feb in May each year.

• In this period, post graduate students are offered internship which includes eight weeks of industrial training followed by project work the duration of which is between 8-10 months. Most of the internship offers are with a stipend ranging from Rs.15000 to Max of Rs.35000 per month during this period.

• Many a time’s internships are converted to full time jobs based on their performance during this period.

• More than 25 companies visit the college to recruit students for internship.
