The Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC) is a premier Institute located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, founded by Philanthropist and Industrialist Makkal Selvan Selvaratna Dr. R. Venkatesalu in the year 1994 under the aegis of SNR Sons Charitable Trust.  SREC, one of many institutions managed by the Trust,  was established as a Private Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Engineering and Management. The Management of SREC Coimbatore is working under Dr. N. R. Alamelu (Principal).

SREC is an autonomous Engineering college affiliated with the Anna University in Chennai, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) of New Delhi. It is accredited Reaccredited by NAAC with ‘A+’ grade with 7 of the B.E/ B.Tech programmes been accredited and re - accredited by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi, since 2003   It is also accredited by the NBA (National Board of Accreditation) for most of its courses and by the Government of Tamil Nadu.  The college attained its autonomous status in 2007-2008 when Anna University was split into six different universities.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked SREC 142 among Engineering colleges in 2020.

Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College offers various Degree courses including 15 UG and 12 PG courses in engineering and other technical streams. These programs are offerred in Full Time mode. It is a premier institute for B.E. / B.Tech, MBA/PGDM, M.E./M.Tech courses. Candidate can pursue in multiple range of courses like B.E. / B.Tech, MBA/PGDM, M.E./M.Tech with the stream of Engineering, Business & Management Studies. Over the period, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College has gained expertize through its trained and experienced faculty in the fields of Information Technology, Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Robotics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Agriculture & Farm Engineering, Fire & Safety Engineering , Construction Engineering, Instrumentation Technology, VLSI Design, Nanotechnology.

Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College  currently has 4400 plus students passionately mentored by 271 faculty members of whom 104 are holding Ph.D, with 105 pursuing Ph.D A very good research culture   exists in the campus with an average annual funding of Rs. 3.4 crore from various funding agencies - AICTE, DST, CSIR, DRDO etc., The institution is also funded through DST- FIST and DST- INSPIRE and DST- NST MIS.  The internship in/for industries are part of the B.E/ B.Tech curricula and the students intern with the industries like – Pricol Technologies, L&T, Health Care Center For Innovation- IIT Park, Paxterra Solutions, Ashok Leyland, TAFE, TVS, Ford India Pvt. Ltd., and Mahindra and Mahindra for a period of 3 to 6 months.

The Departments are closely working with the industries - L&T, Bi-Metal Bearings, Roots Industries, Tech Mahindra and other companies on Consultancy, Management development programmes and collaborative projects. The areas of collaboration include Machine Vision Systems, Finite Element Analysis, 3D Printing, Computational Fluid Dynamics, Predictive Analytics, Virtual instrumentation etc.,

The placement record of the students is quite appreciable with an annual campus recruitment of about 82%.The students have been placed in premier organizations like – Saint Gobain, Sanmar group of companies, Murugappa group, L &T along with all the IT majors - Infosys, Wipro, CTS, Accenture, Tech Mahindra and so on. The alumni working in various positions contribute to the Alma mater through a very strong alumni network and alumni chapters at Chennai and Bangalore.

SREC Coimbatore Courses are offered at UG, PG level. There are 20 courses offered at SREC Coimbatore. The courses are offered disciplines like Engineering, Management. SREC Coimbatore courses includes BE, B.Tech, B.Tech + M.Tech, MBA, M.Tech, ME. Popular courses at SREC Coimbatore are BE, B.Tech.

Placement

Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology has been a consistent topper for several years in the list of campus placement records among private institutions in India. It is a proud privilege that the graduates from SRIT are highly rated by employers from industry both in the private and public sectors. Guidance and support for students aspiring for a career in industry or entrepreneurship or wishing to take up higher education is the primary responsibility of the Placement and Training Centre. Special support and guidance is also provided to students who wish to pursue higher education in the form of GATE and CAT training.

Objectives

• To prepare students to face campus interviews by providing training in the areas of General Aptitude, Verbal Ability, Soft Skills, Technical Proficiency and Specific skill development related to GDs and Interviews
• To organize campus interviews for final year students with industries and business houses of repute from all over India and Abroad
• To arrange for final semester Industry-sponsored project for the students
• To promote career counseling by organizing guidance lectures by senior corporate personnel and well placed SRIT Alumni
• To organize Mock Tests, Mock Interviews, Group Discussions and special industry and domain specific training by the SRIT Alumni Association
• To focus on overall development of the student through Outbound Training at Prof.PRR centre, Anaikatti.

Scholarship

ST/ST SCHOLARSHIP – GOVERNMENT OF INDIA/TAMIL NADU

Those candidates who are Indian citizens and who have passed School leaving examination, viz. Higher Secondary/ Indian School Certificate, etc. are eligible for this scholarship.

• The income of the parent should not exceed Rs 2,50,000 per annum.
• The scholarship is renewable from year to year within the stages of education.
• The candidate should not be in receipt of another scholarship/assistance from other sources.
• The scholar should have 75% attendance every year.
• The award of scholarship is subject to good conduct and character. It is renewable every year on promotion.

The Computer Maintenance Cell (CMC) has been formed in the year 2012 with an objective of Maintaining the computers, network management and printers through in-house management. The department has a dedicated team comprising of technical staff with a Head of the Department.Our college has excellent infrastructure for sports and games with one of the best athletic grounds. Our facility includes 4 Ball badminton Courts, Basketball Concrete Court, Football Field, Handball Court, 4 Volleyball Courts, 400 Meters Athletic Track.

Transport

The college has a fleet of 30 buses that ply from vantage points in and around Coimbatore to the campus and back to facilitate comfortable commuting for both students and staff. The buses are manned by drivers who are well trained and experienced in safe driving practices.
