Sri Ramalinga Sowdambigai College of Science and Commerce is one of the many folded contributions of Sri Ramalinga Sowdambigai Educational Trust, founded by a group of eminent people from various walks of life. The College was started in the year 1997 with a noble vision of imparting quality education to the students especially to the rural student population.

Situated in Onappalayam Village on Vadavalli – Thondamuthur Road and sprawling over 14 acres of land amidst beautiful surroundings at the foot of the Western Ghats, near famous Maruthamalai Hill Temple the college has a magnificent main building in ground, first and second floors covering an area of approximately 20,000 square feet and a big auditorium.

Every department has its own laboratory that is well-equipped. The central laboratory of Information Technology facilitates teaching on various subjects. In this manner all these modern laboratories provide an outstanding facility for learning and developing skills that are required for the students of present day.

To provide quality education at affordable cost and provide ample opportunities on co-curricular and extracurricular activities for the students of rural areas to eventually help them transform as a good member of the society and serve humanity as a true citizen of our country.

The mission of the college is to prepare students for the growing demands of tomorrow keeping in mind the need to mould a generation of young men and women with knowledge, character, truth, genuinely cultivated spirit of service and far-reaching imagination.

Placement
The placement cell has been working actively and effectively for several years towards the career promotion of students. The objectives of the placement cell are:

Preparing the students to face the interviews by training them in various skill sets such as communication skills, aptitude test, Group discussion, BPO training etc
Maintaining student database.
Maintaining list of companies which shall be called for campus interview.

Language laboratory is equipped with 60 audio and visual headsets. It is highly useful for the students to gain communication skills. This also helps them to fit in a good corporate arena.
