Genesis

His Holiness Sri Sankaracharya Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Mahaswamigal of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam had the vision of reviving the Gatikasthana (traditional University of Kanchi as Nalanda in the North) through modern temples of learning.

His Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, His Illustrious Successor fulfilled the vision of His Guru, by establishing SRI SANKARA ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE in 1991, in addition to a number of Patasalas (Vedic Schools), to provide quality higher education to the rural folk and to promote among the youth, the highest and loftiest ideals that constitute the essence of our Culture.

Objectives

Ø  The Origin of the College has been closely linked with reviving the ancient Scholarship and Research in“Gatikasthana” – All comprehensive university existed in Kanchipuram.

Admission Procedure

·         Original Certificate to be Produced during Admission

·         Transfer Certificate

·         Conduct Certificate

·         Mark Statement(S)

·         Attested Copies of the above certificates

·         Passport Size Photo-2. Photocopies of Certificates need not be enclosed along with the application.

Admission is subject to the verification of TC, Mark sheets and Degree Certificate by the Director of Collegiate Education and University of Madras and if the Mark Sheets are found to be bogus, admission will be cancelled besides criminal action being taken.

Fees

Fees recommended by the Governments for self Financing Arts and Science College will be applicable for all students of UG and PG. Fees applicable for the I semester is to be paid during the admission. The College does not collect any donation or Capitation Fees if any form.

Madras University Students Free Education Programme

+2 students who will be selected by University of Madras under this scheme are eligible for free admission for UG Courses in the College. They will be exempted from Tuition fee and Hostel Fee.

Scholarships extended to SC/ST and Backward Classes by the Government will be available. Merit cum Means scholarships given by the Alumni Association and the Trust will also be available.
