Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Institute of Technology which is popularly known as STJ Institute of Technology was established in the year 1980 by the religious Organization named Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Brihanmath, which is well-known in+ Karnataka for its yeoman service in the field of rural education.  Over 172 educational institutions are functioning in various parts of the State of Karnataka under the auspices of this organization right from nursery to the Engineering College.

 
The STJIT campus, extensively landscaped with green environment, and supplemented with a mild and salubrious climate throughout the year, extends over an area of 52 acres of land, was specially selected to keep the students away from the vitiated atmosphere of city life. The institute is situated in Ranebennur, Haveri District, on Poona-Bangalore National Highway (NH-4), Karnataka.  The campus is just 3km from the Ranebennur Bus Station which has a high frequency of bus service from Bangalore.  Ranebennur is at distance of 100 km from Dharwad and 295km from Bangalore, and can be easily reached either by Road or Rail. The college is affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University (VTU), Belgavi.  It is Approved by the Government of Karnataka and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.   

 
STJ Institute of Technology offers both UG Degree and Diploma programs in the field of Engineering.  The BE courses are offered in 6 various branches, and Diploma in Civil Engg and in Mechanical Engg.  The admissions to the BE programs are based on KCET COMEDK entrance exam scores.

Eligibility

• A pass in 10+2 or PUC-II examinations, with 45% marks in Physics, Mathematics (Compulsory subjects) along with one of Chemistry / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics subjects and English as one of the languages.
  
• A pass in 10+2 or PUC-II examinations,with 40% of aggregate in optional subjects in case of candidates belonging to the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes specified in the relevent Government Order for the purpose of reservation.
  
• Pass in Diploma awarded by the Board of Technical Education, the Govt of Karnataka or any other Diploma considered equivalent for the lateral entry admission to second year.
