Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering and Technology

Sri Venkateswara Institute of Science and Technology is a Self Financing Institute which was established in the year 2002 in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.  It has received (Telugu) Minority Status from the State Government.

Sri Venkateswara Institute of Science and Technology is located in a sprawling Campus in 28 acres of land at Kolundhalur Road, Thiruvallur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.  The college location is well-connected with all the buses, railways and airports routes.

SVIST is presently affiliated to the Anna University Chennai. The College has received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education, which is the apex body for all institutions offering technical courses.  Further, it has also applied for, and the college has been certified by the ISO 9001:2008, in 2009. It accredited status in May 2009 from National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi.

SVIST offers many UG and PG programs with various specializations like Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communications, General Management, Mechanical Engineering and many more. These degrees Courses offered by SVIST Thiruvallur including B.E (in 6 disciplines), B.Tech in AI&DS, M.E (in 3 disciplines), and MBA are available in Full Time Mode.  Admissions to these courses are accepted based on a valid score in TANCET, CEETA-PG, etc.

The Infrastructural Facilities provided at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Science and Technology boasts of a Green Campus which speaks volumes of the rare variety of annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees that give the rich green ambience for pleasant study and repose. The strict ‘NO’ to the use of polythene and the non-biodegradable materials and watchful protection of the luxuriant growth of the plants in the campus makes it an Eco-friendly campus.

The Computer Centre with broadband internet facilities of 32 Mbps speed provides ample opportunity for the students to gain knowledge and guided learning on-line .The students computer ratio is 4:1. The college prides itself for possessing a computer centre that houses 630 computers with necessary software's and network facilities like WI FI, WAN and LAN. Each student is able to use the computer to acquire the required skill and proficiency.

Though food is meant for meeting the body’s requirement of the nutritious food for its proper physiological functioning through satisfying hunger, it has an additional inherent element called taste that pleases the tongue and the palate.  Sri Venkateswara Institute of Science and Technology runs a fully functional canteen to serve hygienic food to the staff and students. A separate mess is also operative in the campus. A separate canteen for boys and Girls has been provided.

DEPARTMENT OF PLACEMENT & TRAINING:

·         Our college has independent placement office devoted to cater the needs of organization to provide placement, preparatory programs, winning skills,personality development and CV preparation. It is headed by a Professor designated as Placement Officer.

·         Placement hours have been allocated to the students for conducting placement oriented activities. During this session, aptitude, interview tips and group discussion are impacted to the students by placement coordinators.

·         Entrepreneurship development programs are conducted to motivate aspiring students.

·         The students take part in technical symposium, quiz programs, conference,workshop and campus recruitments are given proper recognition in the premises.

·         Guest lectures, soft-skill programs and aptitude coaching are being conducted by respective professionals in our campus to enrich the student knowledge and skills.

SPORTS

The College has good and modern playground with sophisticated playing equipments for the benefit of the students. The college conducts sports meet regularly and award prizes for the winners. The college has exclusive sports personnel for the benefit of the students to train them in various sports activities. The students are won prizes in various anna university zonal level tournaments in various games and sports.

LIBRARY

·         The College has a well-stocked library with a collection of more than 12312 titles, 42,000 volumes of books along with 85 National,81 International and 128 Online Journals in various disciplines.

·         The college has a library and Information Centre which plays a vital role in achieving the cherished objectives of improving the education standard by stimulating academic interest among the students community. The computerized library with a total area of 1200 sq.m

·         Apart from this, it has digital resources facilities for students and staff such as ASME, DEL & IEEE online journals. It is fully automated and all the transactions are Computerized. Books are classified and arranged according to the DDC (Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme).Added to these, the library has OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facility to enable easy access for the user. It also has a collection of books related to TOEFL, GRE, GATE (All branches), CAT, civil services examinations to help those students to prepare for competitive examinations and placement training.

HOSTEL

Separate hostels have been provided for boys and girls by the College. Both hostels are fully furnished and all the facilities have been provided for the comfort of the students. Hostel Mess is run by management and not by contract.

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

·         A Student admitted to the hostel will have no claim to single or double room accommodation and will have to stay in the room allotted to him /her(with two or three inmates)

·         Inmates of each room are jointly responsible for the furniture, electrical fittings, etc.,and any damage to the hostel property is recoverable from them.

·         No female guest can be entertained in the men's hostel, likewise, no male guest can be entertained in the women's hostel.

·         Use of drugs, alcohol and any kind of gambling are strictly prohibited.

·         Students are not permitted to entertain any day scholar / guest to stay with them, without prior permission from the resident-warden.

·         In case of serious illness and infectious diseases, the student should bring the notice of the resident warden immediately.

·         Disciplinary action will be taken against inmates who violate the hostel rules, Boys hostel is of 40000sq.ft.

CANTEEN

  A hygienic canteen is functioning in the college campus, to provide quality food, snacks, tea, coffee, cool-drinks, etc., Periodic checks will be made to see that the quality of items are maintained.

·         The transport facility is provided for the staff and students for easy travel from several areas of Thiruvallur, Perambakkam, Uthukottai, Thiruttani and Chennai.

·         There are 20 buses catering the needs of the staff and students. They operate through various important routes covering several areas of Chennai and other places.

·         Violation of any of the transportation rules or misbehaviour inside the bus will be viewed seriously.

·         The buses reach the college campus by 8.10 a.m and leave the college after 3.50 p.m

·         The students should carry the bus pass while boarding.

·         Separate seats are allotted for women and men students. No boy student should share a seat with a girl student and vice-versa.

·         Travel on foot-board is strictly prohibited.
