SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), formerly SRM University, is a private deemed university, located in Kattankulathur, Chengalpattu, TamilNadu, India. Founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering College, it gained the deemed status in 2002.

Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar founded SRM Group in 1968 and is respected as a Visionary for his service to the cause of Education and Public at large. With students in India seeking more inter-disciplinary programs and flexibility in course curriculum, SRMIST addressed this demand by completely leaving the option of program path to the students. A student shall have the option of choosing any one of the following pathways (i) Major (ii) Major with Specialization (iii) Major with Minor or Major with specialization and a Minor. The core philosophy that is practised in SRMIST as part of teaching-learning process is Inter Disciplinary Experiencial Active Learning (IDEAL)

The Engineering and Technology faculty comprises of 7 Schools and 19 Departments. Each school is headed by a Dean and comprises various Departments of Engineering, clubbed on the basis of their domain expertise. They are committed to the creation of knowledge through research across all disciplines within the College of Engineering and Technology (CET). Admission Procedure

SRM Institute of Technology Kattankulathur admission is entrance-based for most of the courses. The university accepts national-level entrance exams like CAT, MAT, XAT, TANCET, NATA, etc. for admission to MBA, BArch, and other courses. SRM also conducts its own entrance exams like SRMJEEE, SRMJEEM, etc.SRM University Chennai Courses are offered at UG, PG, Doctorate level. There are 397 courses offered at SRM University Chennai. The courses are offered disciplines like Engineering, Computer Applications, Medical, Management. Admission Criteria

BTech Admissions 2025

SRM Institute of Science of Technology Chennai offers BTech under 40 specialisations, at all its campuses. BTech admissions are granted based on SRMJEEE scores, conducted by the university. SRMIST Chennai offers direct admission and scholarships to first-rank holders of all state & central boards. Students under the top 20,000 ranks in JEE Main are also eligible to apply. Top rankers of Tamil Nadu state & sports persons of national or international level are also eligible for direct admission.

MBA Admissions 2025

Under the PG domain, popular SRM Institute of Science of Technology courses include MBA, offered in 10 specialisations. The duration of the program is 2 years. Admission is done on the basis of marks scored in SRMJEEM subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in the qualifying examination as well. Along with SRMJEEM scores, candidates having valid scores in GMAT, CAT, SAT, MAT, CMAT, NMAT and TANCET will also be considered.

Architecture Admissions

Under the UG and PG domain, SRM Institute of Science of Technology offers courses in architecture. Admission to BArch is granted based on NATA scores, while MArch admissions are done based on merit in the last qualifying examination.

Medical Admissions 2025

Under the Medical discipline, SRM Institute of Science of Technology offers MBBS and BDS. MBBS spans across 5.5 years, while BDS spans across 4 years, along with 1 year of internship. Postgraduate programs under the medical discipline include MD, MS, MDS, DM, and Master in Chirurgiae. While UG admissions are granted based on NEET Scores, admission to the MD/MS course is based on the candidate’s performance in NEET (PG) followed by counselling at designated centres as per the MCI regulations. For the DM and M.Ch course, NEET SS scores are considered.

Health Sciences Admissions 2025

SRM Institute of Science of Technology offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Faculty of Health Sciences. Admission to UG programs is granted based on SRMJEEH UG Scores, while PG Admissions are granted based on SRMJEEH PG Scores. PG Courses consist of both, entrance as well as non-entrance-based programs.

SRM Institute of Science and Technology (formerly known as SRM University) has an excellent library for the benefit of students, faculties and researchers. As one of the best established libraries according to International Standards, the University Central Library has a large collection of Text and Reference books covering various branches of Engineering and Technology, Medical & Health Sciences, and Science & Humanities and its related fields. The library is nearly three decades old. It is completely automated with RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, Centralized Air Conditioned (AC), well protected with CCTV Security systems and fire alarms.

Transport

Such a vast campus does require our students and staff to move from one location to another and to enable easier transit, we have our SRM Coaches to the service. Not just within the campus, the transport facility is optional for students and faculty to come to the campus from Chennai and near by areas and get dropped back to their localities. We operate 100s of buses, AC and Non-AC buses, to ensure timely and convenient transit to and back from the campus.
