SRM Valliammai Engineering College is a prestigious Autonomous Institution established on September 9, 1999.  The College is a part of the SRM Group of Educational Institutions, sponsored by the Valliammai Society. The Valliammai Society was founded by Dr.T.R.Paarivendhar , a well-known educationist, in the name of his mother Tmt. R.Valliammai, under whose care and guidance he attained greater heights in his personal development and whose ideals continue to inspire him.  This college is administered by Thiru Ravi Pachamoothu as the Chairman, R. Padmapriya as Vice-Chairman, R. Harini as Correspondent, B. Chidhambararajan as Director, and M. Murugan as Principal, under the guidance of Founder Chairman T. R. Paarivendhar.

The SRM VEC is spread over an extent of 13.35 acres and onNH 45, Potheri, SRM Nagar, Kattankulathur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.  It is located between Tambaram and Chengalpattu amidst a serene atmosphere with the surrounding greenery being conductive for the pursuit of higher studies.  The college functions from a ten–storey building complex of 29,000 sqm   to accommodate the demands of students.  It is an adjoining campus to SRM University, Kattankulathur, Chennai.

SRM Valliammai Engineering College is affiliated to Anna Univeristy, Chennai and Approved by AICTE, New Delhi.  The college is Accredited by NBA, New Delhi.  The institution is certified with ISO 9001:2015 from TUV Rheinland

SRMVEC is offering 11 courses in the Under Graduate (UG) level and 8 courses in the Post Graduate (PG) level.  The various courses offered in the college are BE/BTech, ME/MTech and MBA programs.  All the courses are affiliated to Anna Univeristy, Chennai and Approved by AICTE, New Delhi.  The eligibility for admission into SRM VEC UG programs is a pass in HSC (Academic) or its equivalent.  For all PG programs in Engineering the eligibility is a pass in a recognized Bachelor’s Degree.  For MBA the eligibility is a pass in a recognized Bachelor’s Degree.  Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the common entrance examination (TANCET) conducted by the state.

As per the norms of the Government, Scholarships are given to the deserving students of BC/MBC/SC/ST from Govt. of Tamil Nadu.  The various Scholarships include Government Scholarships like First Graduate Fee Concession as per Govt. Norms, SC/ST/SCA and Converted Christian (SCC) Fee Concession – SC/ST/SCA Annual Income must be below 2.5 Lakhs and Converted Christian (SCC) Annual Income must be below 2.5 Lakhs.
