ABOUT THE COLLEGE
St.Joseph’s College (Arts & Science) is a co-educational Christian institution run by the management of Society for Education for Life. This college has been established in 1994 and has been taken over by Rev.Fr.Dr.J.E.Arul Raj OMI and managed by DMI Sisters from 2004. This college is Approved by Govt. of Tamilnadu, Affiliated to University of Madras, 2(f) Status of UGC Act,1956 and ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution. DMI is known for its time-honourable tradition of imparting quality education to the society and rendering social service without discrimination.

Rev.Fr.Dr.J.E.Arul Raj is the Founder and Chairman of the college. He is ably supported by Rev.Sr.S.Lalitha, Superior General and Rev.Sr.S.Gnanaselvam, Managing Trustee of the society.

The vision of the college is to provide a discipline life with a spiritual base to remain ‘Fully Alive and Fully Human’. Further, it strives to achieve excellence and provides opportunities to the students to achieve technical excellence.

The college also commits itself to promote self disciplined and holistic personalities among the marginalized, oppressed and disadvantaged sections of the society so as to mould persons in pursuance of making a better human life through science and technology. It enhances the core strength of the students and enables them to make significant contribution to the development of the society in particular and the nation at large.

Admission

Applicant will have to undergo an interview with the admission committee.
The students who are selected for admission must pay the full fees at the time of admission.
Admission is subject to verification of marks certificates by the director of government examination and if the mark certificate is found to be bogus admission will be cancelled and legal action will be taken.

PLACEMENT & TRAINING

Placement cell provides good platform for the students and the companies as well so that the collaboration is mutually beneficial
For 2023 batch students, out of 627 students till the date so far 205 students got placed and received their offer letters also.
Our students are placed in companies like Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Brewed, Eminent Solutions, Victory HR Consultancy, Team Lease, Manpower, CSS corp., Ford, Chola MS, HDB Global, Just dial, Ntrust, Agility info, …etc.
More choices are are lying with in front of eligible students (Nil arrears) to choose their job offers.
The students are given platform to enter into sectors like IT, BFSI, Banking, Health, Media, Hospitality and Non–IT streams.
The databases of the students are maintained to assist and also to provide placement to the passed out students.
M/S. G.S.Skills Gen Solutions in association with Barclays – Avishkaar programme, has conducted Training cum Placement for our current final year Girls students, in which 135 students got placed and received the offer letters. This programme was exclusively designed for women empowerment by the Barclays Bank with placement opportunity.
Valliappa foundation in association with Tech Mahindra foundation got selected 35 of our students received Offer letters from them.
OTTO clothing got selected 25 of our students for their Retail segment and we are in receipt of their offer letter also.
One of our students from BCA got selected for Verizone (IT company) and his CTC, as of now is Rs. 4.00 lacs per annum.
Q spiders selected 9 students for software Testing / Development with 100% training cum placement. These students are undergoing training from March’23 onwards and they will be in the salary structure of Rs. 3.25 lacs per annum.

Assessment Test:
LiveWire CADD centre has conducted 25 th skill quest scholarship exam for our current Final year students. In this regard CADD centre recognizes the need of domain skill competency and works closely with final year students on assessing their core strengths and development areas. This skill Quest assessment test was a 60 minitue objective test on Problem solving, Logical ability, Numerical, Verbal ability and result orientation etc.. Totally 325 students participated in this programme.

HireMee Technologies had conducted Assessment Test, an employability enhancement programme with our current final years. In this programme, 415 students participated and got the benefit out of it in terms of Assessment Test.
We have planned to do another Assessment Test during the month of April’23 by Skill ActZ company.

Auditorium
The auditorium has a spread area of 35,000 sq. ft with a fully inbuilt sound system and lighting. The auditorium is used for all important college events such as convocation, college day, and many more.

SJC Library Facilities Extend over 36,000 sq. Ft with architectural elevation, equipped with air-conditioning LCD projectors, DVD players, Digital Audio systems, Xerox machines, Computers, and Internet facilities.

Club Activities
Every skill must be given an outlet to shine, and our college has a club for just about any special skill. For the students interested in honing their knowledge, we have the Maths Club, the Science Club, the Quiz Club, the Robotics Club, the Current Affairs Club, and the Google Club. For students interested in recreation we have the Fine Arts Club, the Dramatic Club, the Dance Club, and the Music Club. For a lover of the language, we have the Tamil club and the English club. For students interested in business and politics, we have the Entrepreneurs Club, the Mock Parliament Club, the Eco Soc Club, and the Model United Nations Club. Each club focuses on bringing out the best our students have to offer.

SJC Gym Facilities strongly believes in the notion that exercise doesn't shape your body alone, it enhances your mood, attitude, and mind too. That is why our college facilitates not one but three gyms each catering to the specific requirements of the students.

Dispensary Facilities at SJC, Chennai
The college campus has a well-stocked and well-equipped Dispensary with exceptional medical facilities to provide for every ailment under the sun along with a certified and established doctor-on-call. A separate sick bay is provided for girls to rest. Specially prepared food is also provided for students who are unwell or have dietary restrictions.

Medical Facilities at SJC, Chennai
SJC has Medical facilities with 10 beds to offer the first useful resources and activates hospital therapy spherically when the clock is available. It gives nice fitness care in a snug and exclusive environment. It is attended via way of means of a complete-time Medical officer, the staff nurse, and an attendee. In this middle minor surgical procedures, and suturing facilities are available. Also, the center procures drug treatments periodically. A complete-time medical officer is appointed inside the campus to attend to the ill students.

Sports Facilities at SJC, Chennai
St. Joseph's Institute of Technology also has a sports village covering about an astounding 30 acres for various sports and games. Basketball, volleyball, tennis, kabaddi, ball badminton, football, and indoor shuttle badminton each have 3 individual courts; hockey and cricket have 2 grounds, a handball ground, and also an athletic track. They are well maintained by the management and the students are given training every single day. After all, our college strictly believes that only practice puts brains in your muscles. Students admitted through sports quota are given scholarships every year based on their performance. Sports students are also given awards amounting to 3.5lakh on achievers day. Athletes are given a total cash award of 1.71lakh and the coaches who put in their untiring efforts are equally honored with a total cash award of 1.6lakh. Nearly 3 crores are spent on scholarships every year.

Cafe/Mess Facilities at SJC, Chennai
SJC Facilities mess hall covers a total area of 70,000 sq. Ft with separate Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian kitchens that come up with mouth-watering meals three times a day, all seven days a week. The tantalizing aroma drifting from the kitchens is guaranteed to replace any other coherent thought one might possess with the idea of fine dining. Healthy eating has never looked more appetizing. All food is cooked by extremely talented chefs with a passion for preparing mouth-watering dishes. The students have the option of choosing between vegetarian, Non-Vegetarian, and Diet food prepared in separate sections.

TRANSPORT

A fleet of buses is available for transportation from different parts of the city. Only those students who have registered and obtained the bus pass are allowed to avail themselves in the college transport facility. The students are not allowed to change their boarding and alighting points without prior permission.
