What started with baby steps in 1981, NMIMS has today emerged as a globally reputed university. Always socially conscious, the Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal (SVKM) made the decision to cater to the rising demand of management institutes in the country. This led to the birth of the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS). It began humbly by offering two-year full-time master’s programme in management studies with 4 full time faculty, 3162 books and an intake of 40 students above Bhaidas Hall, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai.

EVOLUTION AND GROWTH

From its temporary location at Bhaidas auditorium, NMIMS moved to a large complex of over 5,50,000 sq feet where it stands today as a landmark in the heart of Mumbai at Vile Parle, an affluent suburb of the city.

Built on this inspiring legacy, today, NMIMS stands proud as a Deemed to be University offering multiple disciplines across multiple campuses. What started as an institute in a small building has caught the attention of the world, thanks to their 17 specialized schools. More than 17000 students and about 750 full-time faculty members, 10 faculty members with Fulbright Scholarship and Humboldt International Scholarship for post-doctoral researchers are part of India's most sought after academic community. The consistent academic quality, research focus, faculty from top national and global institutes and strong industry linkages at NMIMS have placed it amongst the nation's prime centers of educational excellence and research today.

NMIMS Mumbai Placements

SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai has a placement cell that helps the students to be placed in the major organisations. SVKM's NMIMS placement cell acts as the bridge between the students and the organisation. As per the NIRF Report 2023 available, Out of 2,178 graduating students 1,571 students are placed. SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai median salary package for the UG-3 year students is Rs. 5,50,000. Whereas, the median salary package for the PG 3year student stood at Rs. 19,20,000. Some of the significant organisations that participated in the NMIMS Mumbai campus drive are Aditya Birla, Capgemini, Cognizant, Google, Titan and many more.

·         The Training and Placement Cell invited the companies for the placement drives.

·         The companies conduct Pre Placement Talks at the SVKM's NMIMS Mumbai Placement.

·         Student's resumes are sent to the recruiters and the preliminary stage shortlisting of candidates 

·         The company conducts group discussions and personal interview rounds.

·         A list of selected students will be sent to the SVKM's NMIMS Mumbai Placement training and placement cell.

NMIMS Mumbai offers scholarships to deserving and meritorious students to support their academic journey. The institute provides various scholarships based on different criteria and needs. These scholarships aim to recognize and reward exceptional students, providing them with financial assistance and encouragement to pursue their education. The details of the NMIMS Mumbai scholarships are mentioned below.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students

• Scholarships are given to the students based on merit.
• The Central sector scholarship scheme for college and university students provides financial assistance to students from economically weaker sections from SC, ST, and general and physically disabled aspirants. 
• Aspirants who have obtained the 80th percentile in class 12 and have an annual income of less than INR 6 lakhs per year are eligible for the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies scholarships. For the first three years of graduation, the scholarship is INR 1000 per month. However, it is INR 2000 per month at the post-graduation level.
• NMIMS Mumbai candidates pursuing professional programs will be awarded INR 2000 per month in the 4th and 5th years. The scholarship is provided for ten months in an academic session.
