Started functioning in 2001 with focus on providing quality education in this rural atmosphere for deserving students irrespective of creed and deed is founded by Swami Dayananda Educational Trust at Manjakkudi, Thiruvarur District.

Situating in the birth place of his holiness Pujiya Sri Swami Dayananda Saraswati in 9.15 acres of land with admirable infrastructure empowers the economically challenged dweller’s wards in strengthening to compete with others.

Affiliated to the Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, the institution now grows as one of the premier institutions in this region now teaching 12 UG, 4 PG, 2 M.Phil and 1 PhD programmes educating 1800 students. In addition to this, diploma in Yoga and 7 certificate courses through entrepreneur cell, Bharathidasan University have been introduced earning its fame as the best educational center for higher education.

A team of seventy faculty members has made dedicated service for making steady progress since its inception in order to attaining high standards of academic excellence.

The institution has been recognized by UGC under section 2(f) and 12(B) in 2018. For acquisition and imparting knowledge to the economically weaker section students, the institution deems relentless service helping to uplift the material conditions of dwellers.

Mission
The Placement and Training Cell (Career and Counselling Cell) understands the career objectives of students keeping in mind the current trends in the competitive world. In this respect it's mission is to impart multiple skills to students by organizing various skill development and career counselling programmes and workshops. It also aims to facilitate students to secure good jobs by conducting Recruitment Drives and Job Fairs.
Activities:
• Continuous assistance to students and alumnus in job placements through On and Off Campus Interviews
• Bringing in the recruiters and assist the students for their career placement.
• Maintain students data base to share with prospective recruiters on request.
• Facilitate Training programs for students through corporate trainers, chartered accountants, soft skill trainers and professionals.
• Gather information about job fairs and all relevant requirements and recruitment procedures.
• Assist students who come for career counseling to match their career goals and skills required.
• Liaise with companies of various sectors for placements.
• Bridging the gap between job seekers and job providers.
• Provide verification for students placed in companies.
• Motivate students to join in various value added courses which would facilitate skill building for better employment opportunities.

Scholarships at Swami Dayananda College of Arts & Science Inaugurated on Vijayadasami Day, October 2013, the Swami Dayananda Scholar Program (SDSP) is designed to encourage undergraduate students to excel in their chosen field of study. The program provides students with enhanced academic and cultural opportunities, unique to their primarily agrarian socio-economic background. It is the sincere hope of the SDSP administration that the opportunities and facilities offered will encourage the development of the student both in academics as well as in their personal sphere, and bring honour to the college and our founder Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati.

The program administration nurtures its scholars through graduation and beyond, expanding their intellect, guiding them. academically, encouraging them to experiment with education. opportunities, advising them on future prospects and career options. The program also seeks to enrich its scholars by fostering integrity. leadership skills, a sense of civic minded responsibility and academic excellence. To achieve these goals, the administration invites guest speakers, urges the students to take up additional project work and participate in seminars. The SDSP provides an atmosphere of continuous learning in which the students can discover their strengths and contribute to the growth of the rural community, the community of scholars, and the country.

The SDSP is a five semester program. In each semester, a maximum of twenty students may be selected for the program.

Library

The college library is automated with Koha open source software and N-LIST, National Digital Library India (NDLI) facility is given to all the students and teachers of the college. The library is well stocked with the latest books containing 11007 books, 36 National/International journals, and magazines, and also has 50 CDs in relation to the course syllabus. The library serves as a knowledge treasure for the students who are hailing from rural backgrounds The library functions in a 3200 Sq.ft spacious area and accommodates 100 students at a time accessing the library. For the integrated library management system which has installed KOHA software system and 11000 books are racked accordingly accessing the resource materials openly.

I.T Infrastructure

The college has an excellent IT Infrastructure facility for the students.

Cafeteria

The college has a canteen facility for staff and students. A well-built-in cafeteria having an area 1200SqFt, attached with a kitchen modern outfits and storehouse. It trifurcates into boys, girls, and staff members' spaces for dining purposes. The two water coolers are provided with RO units fitted in the cafeteria.

Auditorium

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. State of the art air-conditioned auditorium has a seating capacity of 1000 students at a time having a galleried structure accommodating 150 individuals. It is equipped with a large podium, VIP lounge, two green rooms, washrooms, carpeting, and wall paneling for acoustic effects. The auditorium has its spanning green lawns inculcating the best practice of eco-friendly living.

Sports

The college has sports facilities for all students. The playfield of the college has a vast area, provides cricket pitch, volleyball, ball badminton, kabbadi, and running tracks satisfy the necessity of sports persons and also indoor games like table tennis and carrom board are available.

Laboratories

The college has a departmental based laboratory facility for the students. A utilitarian Physics lab accommodates 300 students per week on a rotational basis indelibly fixing scientific temperament in younger minds, substantiating the scientific facts for their practical utility as prescribed by the Bharathidassan University, Tiruchirappalli. A total of 100 computer systems are installed in the computer lab for programming and browsing works. It is facilitated with Wifi connectivity, Printers, and Projectors for the DEMO class in the lab. It is equipped with Air Conditioning Machines and is also supported by a UPS facility. Chemistry is the study that deals with composition, properties, and the use of matter. It probes into the principles governing the changes that matter undergoes and the chemistry laboratory has been given a central and distinctive role in chemistry education. Thus for any meaningful teaching and learning of chemistry to take place. A utilization of chemistry lab resources in terms of apparatus, equipment, salts, reagents, materials, acids, and bases. for 200 UG students and 20 PG students per week on a rotational basis. We are maintaining all safety measures required for the chemistry lab.1. To provide students a platform to enhance English language skills and to practice soft skills. 2. To develop the student's communication skills. 3. To emphasize the need for English in the technical world.

The college has a health center with a first aid facility for the students.
