Syed Ammal Engineering College (Autonomous) SAEC is a private, self-financing Institution, established in the year 1998 is promoted by the Syed Ammal Trust The late Dr. E.M. Abdullah is the founder of Syed Ammal Engineering College in Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. Dr Babu Abdullah, MBBS, is the Managing Trustee and Correspondent of the institution. Dr.Chinnadurai Abdullah is the Member & Correspondent.

SAEC stands on a  25 acres of landmass, amidst serene and salubrious environs, the college has state-of –the- art technology and avant-garde resources for its academic and administrative apparatus. The college is situated at Dr E M Abdullah Campus, Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu. The nearest Railway Station is Ramanathapuram which is 7 Kms away from the campus and Madurai Airport is 103 Kms from the College Campus.

Syed Ammal Engineering College is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University. The College is accredited in A+ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) as well as the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The University Grants Commission (UGC) conferred autonomous status to Syed Ammal Engineering College (SAEC) in Madurai, Tamil Nadu on September 26, 2023. The autonomy is valid for 10 years from 2023–2024 to 2032–2033.

The College has 6 B.E 4 B.Tech and 4 M.E options in different disciplines with a combined Intake Capacity per year of 360 students. It also has 4 M.E with an Intake of 24 per year and an MBA with 60 approved Intake per year. Finally, the college has 4 Ph.D programs as Part-Time and Full-Time options. The college offers scholarships and other incentives to encourage students. The College offers scholarships to students from SC,ST,BC, EBC and Minority Welfare backgrounds. Hostal

Due to the discipline of our college hostel, parents prefer to admit their wards in our hostel. There is a separate boys and girls hostels run by our management. Hygienic, nutritious and balanced food at nominal cost is provided. Food is prepared with help of modern kitchen equipment in the hostel. Strict rules have been framed to maintain pleasant and peaceful atmosphere for study. The study hour is implemented between 6.30 P.M and 8.30 P.M in the hostels except on Saturdays. This study hour helped the students to secure ranks in the University Examinations.
