T J Institute of Technology (TJIT) is a Premier Technology College in Tamilnadu, based at Chennai. It was established in the year 2001 by Ponniamman Educational Trust and the T J Educational Trust with the objective of producing high quality Engineers and Technocrats. The rapid progress made by our country in the field of Science and Technology has given rise to a phenomenal demand for qualified engineers in all areas and to cope up the demand there has been a surge in institutions offering engineering education. Three colleges of the Group effectively reflect the philosophy of the Ponniamman Educational Trust and the T J Educational Trust. T J Institute of Technology is spread over a vast area of 10.08 Acres, and is built with a view to provide students the perfect environment to pursue their education comfortably. The College is located at Rajiv Gandhi Salai (Old Mahabalipuram Road),Karapakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Thiruvanmiyur Railway Station is 9 Kms from the College and Chennai International Airport is 16 Kms away. Chennai Central Railway Station is approx. 21 Kms from the College Campus.

T J Institute of Technology is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to Anna University Chennai. The College is accredited by both - the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a rating of Grade "A" and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The Institute is ISO 9001:2015 Certified and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked it at #42 among Engineering Colleges category in India.

Admission Procedure

In the ever changing technological world where today's technology becomes outdated tomorrow, we fully understand the Corporate expectation from students. Based on this understanding, we have signed MOUs with leading training companies for providing communication, soft skills and technical training. The comprehensive training program commences from the first semester onwards with Communication Skills, second semester with Personality Development Program. In the second and third year, the students are trained on the latest technology with at least two certifications. In the final year, the students undergo an intensive placement training leading to a successful career launch.

The College imparts world class training and research. The College provides state of the art computing facilities to the students. It also promotes active industry-institute collaboration by identifying areas of interest and taking part in sponsored research projects and consultancy services.Some of the major research areas which the faculty members and students working on are Networks, Database, Theoretical Computer Science, Multimedia, Image Processing, Software Engineering and Data Mining.

The College provides extensive computing resources for research and education. This includes more than 300 high-performance computers in the range of Linux, Windows workstations and a good number of laptop systems. In addition to general purpose file server, the department maintains two specialized servers for database clients and Linux based workstations. Department network communications include a fiber optic backbone, offering 16 Mbps connectivity to the commodity internet and provides intranet within the Hi-tech lab, which hosts 11 laboratories. The department has wireless internet connectivity via a campus-wide 802.11b network to the laptops.

Transport

TJIT provides a fleet of college buses that cover various parts of Chennai and its suburbs. These buses are equipped with necessary safety features and are operated by trained drivers. The transport services are designed to facilitate easy and timely access to the campus for both students and staff.
