The Tagore Medical College and Hospital, one of the Top Medical Colleges in Chennai, was established in the Year 2010 under the aegis of Tagore Education Trust (1997) by the Chairperson Professor M. Mala, MA, MPhil, an Educationist and Philanthropist.  The Trust started the TMCH to train young men and women as dedicated, highly skilled medical professionals committed with the noble task of serving the community.

Admission Procedure

Tagore Medical College and Hospital, Chennai, primarily offers MBBS and postgraduate medical courses like MD and MS. Admission to the MBBS program is based on NEET (UG) scores, followed by counseling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu

Admission Process

• Register and appear for NEET‑UG and receive an AIR (All India Rank).

• Participate in NEET counselling:

  • 85% state quota seats (TN students via state counselling authority).

  • 15% All India Quota seats via MCC central counselling.

  • Management & NRI quota seats in private colleges are also allotted through Tamil Nadu state counselling .

• After counselling and seat allotment, complete admission formalities, including document verification and fee payment 

Eligiblity

• Must qualify in the NEET‑UG exam, conducted by NTA .

• Must be at least 17 years old on or before 31 December of the admission year (i.e., born on or before 31 Dec 2007 for 2025 session) .

• Must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English, and secured minimum 50% aggregate in PCB (40% for SC/ST/OBC, 45% for OBC-PWD/ UR-PWD) .

• Indian citizens, OCIs/PIOs eligible (T.N. domicile required for state quota benefits) 

MD/MS - 3 Years Course

Admission Process

• Register and take NEET‑PG, conducted by NBE.

• Participate in state-level PG counselling (conducted by Tamil Nadu state medical authority).

• Seat allocation is based on NEET‑PG rank, quota (state vs all‑India), and seat availability.

• Once allotted, complete document verification and fee payment 

Eligiblity

• Must hold an MBBS degree or provisional pass certificate recognized under NMC Act.

• Must possess permanent or provisional MBBS registration from NMC or the appropriate State Medical Council.

• Should have completed (or be completing by 31 March of admission year) a 12-month internship .

• NEET‑PG eligibility: minimum 50th percentile for General, 40th for SC/ST/OBC (incl. PWD), and 45th for UR‑PWD

BENEFITS

Tamil Nadu Government First Graduate Scholarship: This scholarship is for students admitted through TNEA Anna University counselling who are the first graduates in their family. There is no income limit, and the scholarship provides ₹25,000 per year.

Tamil Nadu Government BC & MBC Scholarship: Students admitted through TNEA Anna University counselling and belonging to Backward Classes (BC) and Most Backward Classes (MBC) are eligible if their parents' annual income is less than ₹2 lakhs. The scholarship amount ranges from ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 per year, credited directly to the student's bank account.

Tamil Nadu Government SC & ST Scholarship: Students admitted through TNEA Anna University counselling who belong to Scheduled Castes (SC) or Scheduled Tribes (ST) are eligible based on income limits (less than ₹2.5 lakhs for SC, less than ₹2 lakhs for SCC - converted Christian). The scholarship covers ₹50,000 per year for tuition fees (credited to the college account) and ₹4,500 per year for maintenance allowance (credited to the student's bank account).

Tamil Nadu Government Farmer Scholarship: This scholarship is for the sons and daughters of farmers who have a Farmer ID card. It provides ₹6,500 per year, credited directly to the father's bank account
