Thanthai Hans Roever College of Arts and Science (THRC) is a private, self-financing and co-educational institution located in Perambalur, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1985 under the St. John Sangam Trust by Dr. K. Varadharaajen, in memory of Rev. Fr. Hans Roever. The college was founded with the objective of providing quality higher education to rural, economically weaker, and minority students, focusing on value-based education and holistic development.

Admission Procedure

Admissions to all under graduate and postgraduate courses are made as per the educational qualification, age limit and other conditions such as communal reservation prescribed by the government and the university. Students must bring the copy of their passport size photograph when called for admission and two more copies if he / she seek admission into the hostel. Applicants must bring the following certificates in original at the time of admission i. Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate with mark sheet ii. Transfer Certificate iii. Community Certificate iv. Conduct Certificate Once admitted, money will not be refunded. The students who seek admission into the hostel should submit separate applications. The Application can be downloaded from our site. The filled in application form should be submitted to our office by Post with DD Challan taken for Rs.200+Commission for UG course and Rs 300+ Commission for PG course favouring The Principal.

Placement

The Skill Development and placement cell activities are administered by assessing the caliber of the students and by matching with their desire and strengths. The students are given a clear picture about the Job market, job opportunities in various sectors. This activity focuses on building an effective career of the students by developing the skill sets for getting success in that particular career. The influence of personality upon the functional efficiency of a student its impact in building her career is well understood and hence the Cell organizes periodic personality development programs.

It assists the students to specifically design themselves and to cater to the demands of corporate world. Mentoring is designed to help students to achieve academic excellence by monitoring them closely and by establishing homely environment. It also includes managing stress, improving communication skills, developing confidence, exploring themselves, identification of values, resolving a personal problem interests and personal strengths needed for decision-making.

The placement officer with the placement coordinator representing each department has a regular personality development programme for I year students II year students on Career guidance and Leadership Programs and PG and III year students on Group discussion, Personal Interview, Resume preparation, Employability skills, Corporate Expectations, Personal Grooming and Etiquettes.

Training and placement cell regularly conducting sessions on Positive attitude, Self-Confidence, Inter personal skills, Team building, Aptitude test preparation, Goal setting, Public Speaking, Group discussion, Frequently asked questions in Interview, Resume preparation, Corporate Expectation, Employability skills, Mock interview, Mock Group discussion., etc. were taught by placement officer.

The college library block has opened in the year 1985. Separate building for the Central Library and its total carpet area is 4224.73sqt, which is eco-friendly with peaceful atmosphere. The modern computerized library has more than thirty thousand volumes of books covering various areas of computer science, Life Science, Arts and Management. The documents in the library are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) 19th edition. It has subscriptions of more than hundred National & International Journals. The many English and Tamil Newspapers are also subscribed for the enlightments of both staff and students.

Education cannot take its precise shape if life away from classrooms is not healthy and peaceful. And while studying, the student’s life away from classrooms will generally be at hostels or their home. Our institute has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls with state-of-the-art facilities inside the college campus. The College has a hostel named after the Father of the Institutions as “Thanthai Hans Roever Hostel”. It has adequate high security and good discipline. Each room has an attached bathroom. The students who are not staying with the parents shall reside in the college hostel as per college rules. The hostels are located inside the college campus and have a separate hostel office and mess within the hostel premises. The mess has a centralized renovated kitchen and a separate dining hall for boys and girls.

Apart from the computer laboratories setup for syllabus programs the Institutes have provided computer centers for general purposes and learning during extra hours. This includes Internet Facilities available through leased line and Wi-Fi for providing continuous and uninterrupted internet connectivity to students and faculty members. These facilities are also available to students beyond college hours for preparation of seminars & projects and research-orientated work. We have local area wireless technology which allows an electronic device to exchange data or connect to internet using 50mbps in our college campus and in UG and PG hostel.

Transport

The students while traveling in the college bus must behave in a decent manner. They should not create any problem with the driver or cleaner. The buses will stop only at the stage that is fixed by the transport division. The students Co-operation is expected for the smooth functioning of the transport facilities extended towards them.Twenty Nine buses are made available to facilitate the staff and students.
