The College started functioning in the year 1968-69. It is named after the great saint THIRUVALLUVAR. It is very close to the temple dedicated to “Lord Siva” at Papanasam (Tirunelveli District) on the banks of river Thamiraparani in sylvan surroundings contributed by the pothigai, supposed to be the seat of St.Agasthiyar, who nurtured the Tamil language in all its varied excellence, thousands of years ago.

   The College is under the benign management of Kundrakkudi Thiruvannamalai Adheenam Trust headed by His Holiness Srimath Ponnambala Adigalar. It is now a First Grade College imparting instructions in B.A..(Tamil),B.A.(History),B.Sc. (Mathematics), B.Sc. (Chemistry), B.Com., and M.Com., Degree courses under aided, B.Com. (Al l i ed Computer), B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.A. (Engl ish), B.Com., M.A. (Engl i sh), M.Sc. (Mathematics) and Research Centre in Commerce under Unaided .

   Under the inspiring leadership, wise guidance and loving care of Late “His Holiness Kundr kudi Adigalar”, Founder President and former Secretary, the college achieved all-round development. Now the College is Re-accredited with ‘B++’ grade by NAAC in the year 2017.

The annual fee is 20000. Some scholarship is available. That is like the Beedi scholarship, sports scholarship, and Hope scholarship, and the college provides financial assistance. Then the college provides campus interviews also.

Ecoclub 

Ecoclub aims to promote, monitor and operate the environmental activities of the college and neighborhood communities for the sound environmental behavior.

Objectives of the Club :

To create awareness about the ecological degradation and the need for eco system protection.

To create awareness on environmental issues and highlights basic health and hygiene care among the public.

To encourage students to undertake mini projects on economic impacts of environmental pollution.

To plant and maintain saplings in places close to the college and to ensure the region a Plastic Free Zone.

Anti Ragging Cell

    Ragging in all its forms shall be totally banned in this institution including in its department, constituent units, all its premises (academic, residential sports, kiosks, cafeteria and the life) whether located within the campus or outside and in all means of transportation of students whether public or private. The institution shall take strict action including but not limited to criminal proceedings and/or cancellation of admission against those found guilty of ragging and / or of abetting raging and the burden of proof shall be on the perpetrator of alleged ragging and not on the victim. An offence of ragging may be charged either on a written complaint by the affected or on independent finding of the anti-ragging squat.

Ragging means ‘any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student, indulging in rowdy or undisciplined. Activities which causes or likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension thereof in a fresher or a junior student or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student’.

Punishment for Ragging:

Depending on the nature and gravity of the offence as established by the Anti-Ragging Committee of the College, those found guilty of ragging shall be liable for any one or more of the following punishments. The decision of the Anti-Ragging Committee shall be final and binding.

Cancellation of admission.

Suspension from attending classes.

Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fee concession and other benefits.

Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process.

Withholding results/certificates.

Debarring from representing the College in any fest, sports or other such events.
