University BDT College of Engineering (UBDTCE) is situated in the central part of Karnataka, India. Established in 1951, the college was named after Brahmappa Devendrappa Tavanappanavar (BDT), after B.T. Chandranna donated, in rupees, 1.5 lakhs for the construction of the building in memory of his uncle (Brahmappa Tavanappanavar) and father (Devendrappa Tavanappanavar). The then Maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar Bahadur laid the foundation stone for the building on 7 August 1951 and inaugurated the building on 24 September 1956.
University BDT College of Engineering holds the distinction of being one of the oldest Engineering Colleges of Karnataka. UBDTCE has consistently served as a Center of Learning for various sections of society, including the middle and economically disadvantaged sections of society. The college aims to provide quality Technical Education that aligns with the present and emerging technological landscape, emphasizing regional and social needs. It has always been trying to maintain high standards of teaching with a working group of highly motivated and Learned Faculty Members.
UBDTCE campus lodged in approximately 46.4 acres in Hadadi Road, Davangere City Center, behind District Stadium. Davangere, Karnataka.
The University B.D.T. College of Engineering is a constituent college of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgavi. It is approved by AICTE, and accredited by NBA
UBDT College of Engineering offers a variety of UG and PG in the fields of Engineering, Management and Computer Application. The admission to this college for BE (7 disciplines) is made solely through (CET) Common Entrance Test conducted by Government of Karnataka through Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Selection is based on the Merit and Reservation in accordance with the policies of the Government of Karnataka. The college alos offers MTech, MCA and MBA Degrees. Admission to MTech is based on PGCET, KArnatka.
The Facilities provided by the institute include Library, Sports, Hostel, Canteen, Internet, Language Lab, Auditorium, Canteen, Computer Lab, Gym, Mess, Library, Medical Facilities, Class Room, Sports, Grounds, Conference Room, Cafeteria, Laboratories, Co-operative Society, Common Room, Education Festival, Placement and Scholarship. UBDTCE was one among the fourteen institutions in the state of Karnataka to get the World Bank-aided TEQIP Project Phase-I and utilized a grant of rupees from Nine Crores for improving its infrastructural facilities and enhancing the quality of its academic standards. The institution is also expecting World Bank-aided TEQIP Project Phase-IT to further improve its research and development activities and infrastructure.
The dedicated and effective Placement and Training Centre organizes Campus Interviews at regular intervals. The Placement & Training Center is actively involved in placing the students in reputed organizations. Various companies such as TCS, Mindtree, Infosys, HCL, SLK Software, Siemens, Nokia, and Zindal as well as Several Public Sector Undertakings etc., are visiting the college regularly. Many of Alumni of the College have grown to top positions in private and public sectors not only in India but also in other parts of the world. The college is completing 60 years of fruitful existence in 2011 and is planning to celebrate its diamond jubilee soon.
The Institution is having highly qualified and dedicated faculty members to impart advanced knowledge in Engineering and Technology to students. Most of the faculty has acquired their Master's and Doctoral degrees from reputed institutions like IISc, IITs, NITs, PSGCT, etc. The college has produced about 40 Ph.Ds, and many Research Scholars are pursuing their doctoral degree in various frontiers of Engineering and Technology. The college undertakes consultancy works in Civil, Electrical & Electronics, and other branches of Engineering.
Students of UBDTCE are known for discipline, academic brilliance, respect and love towards their teachers. The college is also aimed at providing high quality technical education to students. The students are actively involved in co-curricular and extracurricular activities like Red Cross, NCC, NSS, etc. Other Cells available are Science and Technology Entrepreneurs' Park (STEP), Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC), ISTE Staff and Students Chapters, Co-operative Society etc., for the benefit of students. The annual cultural festival "Chaitra" takes place every year, which creates a platform for exhibiting the hidden talents of students. The college undertakes consultancy works in civil, electrical and electronics, and other fields of engineering.
