University College of Engineering, Villupuram, Anna University, located in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu was established in 2008.  It is a Co-educational institute and is one among the 13 Constituent Colleges in Tamil Nadu under Anna University, Chennai.  The College was inaugurated on 01-09-2008. UCEV Campus is located in an area of 17.5 Acres of land at Kakuppam village, Kakuppam, Viluppuram, Tamil Nadu which is adjacent to Villupuram - Pondicherry National Highway (NH 45A).

University College of Engineering, Villupuram, which is recognized as one of the outstanding College in Villupuram District, is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.  

The institute offers various UG and PG programs in Part Time and Full Time modes including B.E (in 4 Disciplines), B.Tech (In IT), and M.E (Internal Combustion Engg) Degree Programs.

UCEV is one of the Zonal centres of AUTC as well as Regional Research Centre. UCEV is also identified as a center for conducting TANCET Exam. Admission Procedure:

The University College of Engineering, Villupuram, follows a merit-based admission process for its undergraduate (B.E/B.Tech) and postgraduate M.E programs, primarily through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) and Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) respectively

Admission Criteria

BE / B.Tech- 4 Years Course

Admission Process:

• TNEA Application:  Admission to the B.Tech program is through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process. Candidates need to apply Online through the TNEA portal.
  
• Merit List:  Based on the higher secondary marks, a merit list is prepared. The marks are scaled to 200, and ranks are assigned accordingly.
  
• Counseling:  Candidates are called for counseling based on their ranks in the merit list. During counseling, candidates can choose their preferred course and college
  

Eligibility:

• Candidates must have passed the higher secondary examination (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as core subjects.
  
• Candidates must have obtained a minimum aggregate of 50 % marks in PCM.
  

M.E - 2 Years Course

Admission Process:

• TNEA Application:
  Admission to the M.E program is through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) process. Candidates need to apply online through the TNEA portal.
  
• Entrance Exam:
  TANCET: Take the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) conducted by Anna University.
  
• Counseling:
  Rank-Based Counseling: Admission based on ranks obtained in TANCET.
  

Eligibility:

• Candidates must have a B.E/B.Tech degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
  
• A minimum percentage of marks is required in the qualifying examination, typically around 50-60%, but this may vary depending on the specific discipline and year.

The Training & Placement Cell (TPC), established in 2010 at UCEV, works under the guidance of the Dean and Anna University’s Centre for University-Industry Collaboration to bridge graduates with industry. It provides infrastructure online test halls, interview rooms, and group discussion spaces and organizes skill development through soft-skill sessions, aptitude training, and technical workshops . In recent years, placement rates have ranged between 40–80%, with the Computer Science department reporting about 80% of students placed. Salary packages vary from ₹1.5 LPA to ₹7.8 LPA, with median offers around ₹7.5 LPA in CSE . Major recruiters include TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, HCL, IBM, Tech Mahindra, Tata Elxsi, Mphasis, SureSoft, and others . Periodic initiatives like the “Job Utsav” (Feb 2025) and the Naan Mudhalvan Skill & Placement Centre (December 2024) reflect ongoing efforts to boost placement and employability
